J.D. passed away while I was at work (regular vets were closed). I called the ER to find out what crematorium they use. The next day, I drove him there myself and waited for the cremation and then brought his ashes home the same day. The people there were above and beyond kind. They let me sit with him in a private room for as long as I wanted, before the cremation. I cut some of my hair and tied it around his paw and he was cremated wearing his bow tie and a favorite toy and blankie. If I had known he could have all that stuff, I would have brought a shrimp (his favorite). While waiting, I was looking at the urns and they said to me, you don't have to choose now, take your time. Come back when you are ready. They gave him to me in a beautiful wood box with his name on it on a brass plate, with the nicest card. Super people. That was my first and only experience in cremating a beloved.
