Stephanie -- I saw in Yum's condo that you've been giving Convenia. Please be very careful. Given that it lasts over 2 weeks, if there is any chance of an adverse reaction, with that long acting of a drug, it becomes a very dicey situation. My vet will not use it. It's only indication is for skin infections despite the fact that some vets prescribe it so caregivers don't have to pill their cat.

Quintus has already been on convenia before and never had any adverse reaction to it. It's what got him over his first pancreatitis. I've used it with other cats and it's commonly used here, without disasters. The whole "convenia scare" is not something I'd ever seen or heard anywhere else before arriving here (I have been hanging out in "cat spaces" for a bit...). So, thanks for the heads-up, but not worried.

Well, I might give him some of the food you put together and test in 30 min or so and see where things are heading.
Once he eats his food, he might come up, but being new to these blues I'd want to be sure he was really going up before calling it a night, so I'd test again in 30-60 min before making that decision.
He is currently having a hearty midnight snack. Seems to have eaten between a third and half of the half-portion I prepared. I'll test on the hour (2am coming up... did I mention I go to bed around 9?)

Look at him go, Stephanie! Again, sorry about the lack of sleep but it must be a relief from all the black and reds!
yes it is, it's giving me hope for the future! part of me hopes he bounces tomorrow so I can just not test during the day and sleeeeep.
I really (tomorrow, too tired now) need to get my hands on more about the depot so I understand (and can explain) it better.

Yeah. I remember your saying you went to bed relatively early. Like I said, if you look at Gabby's SS, especially in the early years, you'll see that I commiserate.
Indeed! I'm sure I'm not the first to be staying up. What's keeping me on my toes is that he did go down to 4.2 based on 2ui in the evening and 1ui the morning before, so there is potential. I've also gone to bed on high +2s and woke up to "lowish" AMPS. So... better safe than sorry!

That paper I sent you should help and it illustrates. As far as how the depot depletes goes, it wouldn't be the same for every cat and even in the same cat at different times. It's very interesting that Lantus and Lev work so similarly, but how they make a depot is entirely different, one is an acidic suspension and the other is all protein folding and stuff I haven't thought about in years (and barely could wrap my head around the first time).

AlphaTrak2 manual re: your previous question about what the screen should look like.

Make sure you code your meter correctly. Do you have the test fluid?
