Luci has been doing quite well. She's lost a little weight; from 11 pounds (vet weighed) to 9.6 pounds (my home scale, subtracting her weight from our combined weight on human scale);
I've been testing her about once a week now and read up on the 'Insulin' Info posted within. Since it says as a newbee not to administer insulin when BG is less than 200-250, I've held off.
She seems to be doing fine on her grain free diet. No kibble whatsoever; Only Fancy Feast canned and an occasional 'meat' snack - those Fancy Feast fancy snacks - just a wedge of tuna or salmon in a packet. But she seems hungry - unless she gets a full can of Fancy Feast - she's begging me all morning for food. Same thing at night - she wants a full can (these are the small cans I'm referring to).
So I'm in a 'holding' pattern here. Do you think that's okay? I've been reluctant to take her to a vet, any vet; because she had such a bad experience last time and simply hates the whole experience. I have to admit we were all so upset after that last visit - Luci, myself and my husband - so not anxious to seek out a vet; even a kinder cat vet.
So unless her BG takes a dramatic turn, I'm going to remain in the holding pattern - unless someone tells me what I'm doing is simply not right at all...my feeling at this time is to keep doing what we're doing - let her remain calm and watch her BG weekly. If she starts acting odd (drinking a lot of water, peeing a lot, etc.) We're going to leave well enough alone.
Thoughts?
