Hi Kris & Teasel!
Yes, they are Scottish fold and straight. I called them small pigs.:cat: This is my first experience with cats. I want to be a good mom for them.

You'll get a lot of good advice here. How old are they? Because this is a forum for diabetic cats, we'll recommend feeding wet food only. It really is best for all cats, regardless of what the vet says, etc.

They are 10 month. I feed them with cooked chicken fillet and boiled carrots. They also love a little oatmeal with quail eggs. They love chicken necks to grind teeth. I do not give dry food. Maybe someone is going to quarrel with me that I'm giving bad food, but for that I am here. To learn how to care for cats.

Do you add a supplement to their diet, one that contains taurine, etc.?
 
The easiest option for adding the supplements is here: http://www.foodfurlife.com/
It comes pre-mixed and you just measure out enough to go with the weight of the meat, mix it altogether and you're done.

If you want to buy the supplements individually and make your own mix, there is good information here: http://catinfo.org/making-cat-food/
This is a bit more work, but it gives you complete control.

The first option (foodfurlife) will send you a small sample for around $1 if you want to make up a little batch and see how your kitties like it.
 
Hi I make my own food, I buy the supplements individually since the ones that are pre prepared do not deliver where I live, I pretty much use the suplements suggested in http://catinfo.org/making-cat-food/ , I'm not using the actual recipe there because of my kitties special needs, since three of them have CKD (plus some other issues )and one is diabetic so the recipe was made specially for them

One very important supplement is taurine cats really need this one, and since your kitties are still pretty young you have to make sure they get enough calcium either from bones or bone meal (cats will form bones till they are 3 years old more o less )

Hi! I follow the recipe at www.catinfo.org. It’s really important if you’re going to make cat food that you add all the supplements or use the premix Djamila mentioned. Without that the cats aren’t getting a balanced diet and it could cause health issues. I chose to do it myself because we have some health issues at my house and I wanted control over what we made. I think either way is fine though...whatever makes you comfortable!
