Took a BG reading on Jester around noon. No insulin since Friday AM (and that was a mistake because his BG was under 150) and he was at 130 at least 2 hours after eating.

Nearly all the food he's been eating have been medium carb ( about 14 -15) and he eats around two cans or so a day, although he still needs to be encouraged after a few minutes.

The last time his BG was over 150 was 12-6.

This would be his second remission in less than six months, with his diagnosis at the end of June.

Have others experienced this kind of BG bouncing?

How long OTJ until we actually call it a legitimate remission?

So if I'm not giving him insulin because he goes too low, but his BG is in the low 100s, what is that?

Best asking someone else. If it were my cat I’d keep him on insulin until he was in normal range. But please. Wait for someone else to chime in.

you're almost there. 1 you gave recently seems too much... it's getting him ALMOST too low. I'd go with .5-.75 depending on the preshot.

His BG has been going down even without insulin and despite Jester eating a medium carby food.

Even the vet said no insulin for now. We have an appointment tomorrow evening.

Ah, okay. So ten more points and he's in the normal range. It doesn't necessarily have to be green.
Cool.

Giving small doses to keep him in that range Will strengthen the chances of remission sticking.

I use a pet meter. Normal on a pet meter it's 68-150. Any number over 120 I dose. So even though she may be in a "Normal" range I push that number down a bit further. My goal is to get her to 85-105ish for nadir.

It was only advice. You don’t have to take it. @JanetNJ is also suggesting to keep the insulin going just s little longer to ensure a stronger remission. And we’ve all seen on here that the vet often is not the best source of good advice.

And I should have been knocking on wood.

Jester's BG is back up to over 200 this morning. Plus he's getting massively fussy about food again. Half an hour later he hasn't eaten even half a can from two different cans. The last three days he ate over 2 cans each day of pretty much one flavor.

1U and a mid-cycle check coming up before his vet visit.

:-(

You haven't been recording his pmps the last few days... So you have readings for those times?
