Not surprised at her AMPS 347 as I really carbed her up last night to avoid yet another shark dive (and so I could try to get some sleep). We'll see if the depot is still in play today... I just gave her a tiny amount of food from Max's breafast so I could sneak some of the Miralax in for her.

Last night:
PMPS 203
+3=86:I could see another shark dive coming, so I gave her 20% carbs
+4=160: 20% food
+5= 142: 20%
+6=214

She wasn't keen on eating, but when I saw that 86 at PM+3, I gave her a tiny amount of Mirtazapine - 0.05 ml - but that was enough to turn her into an eating machine: she absolutely scarfed down an entire 3 oz can of food in record time. I like that Mirtz will make her eat, but I hate seeing the "I have to eat! I have to eat!" mode it puts her in... kinda like me with chocolate, but mine isn't medically induced! ;)

OMG! I thought you were in one of the US areas. And 18yrs is too old to handle the pressure differences, even inside the cabin. Sorry I misinformed you

@Kathy and TiTi , don't worry about it! You had no way of knowing that I live in Australia (although I grew up in the U.S.). Believe me, I've thought about it as my mom is in her 80s with Alzheimer's. Although she's in a superb assisted living facility - absolutely top notch - I'd live there! - still, I'm torn between wanting to be able to spend time with her while I can while she's still aware, but needing to be with Girlie because she's also old and needs my care. I just cross my fingers and hope that mom hangs in there - and Girlie, too! :-)

What a quandary. :bighug:

I am going to start looking into a rental for vacation down along the coast. Gizmo will join us. Both hubby and me need to get away and a place to take the boat and do some fishing fits the bill. It will 3-4 hour drive and it will have to be before it gets too hot.

Are you flying through Houston?

Oh, doesn't that sound like the loveliest kind of holiday! And so great that you can take Gizmo with you. I hate leaving Girlie. I have to laugh at myself that I believe that I can take care of my cat better than the vet can...

Yes, I'm going through Houston on the way in, but my layover isn't long enough to go out and go back in again. Such a pity!

Does anyone shave their cat's flanks to see better when shooting - or just shave their cats for another reason? I'm wondering if all pet shavers are created equal ... When Girlie had her side shaved after the U/S, it was so much easier to see where I was shooting, so I was thinking of having the vet do that again while she's there and then just maintaining here at home. She'll look interesting, but I don't think she'll mind...

+4= 428: What's Girlie doing now? She's gone up and isn't moving, although I usually see the Lantus kick in at +4.

I smelled after her shot, so I don't think it was a fur shot. I'm right at the end of a cartridge, though, so I was going to start a new one tonight. Hmmm... Maybe the drop to 0.25 the other day was too soon, even with the low shark dive...

You mean Levemir ;) It almost looks to me like too many back to back reductions and her depot has emptied. She doesn’t have enough insulin to carry her through the bounces. Time will tell :rolleyes:

I think you're right. I never knew that the depot could help carry her through her bounces - that's quite interesting!
How long should I let her linger in these higher numbers before I go back up to 0.5 or even 0.75? On 20 December she's going to the vet's to board for 9 days or so.... I'd rather she run a little high there rather than too low as they won't be doing much testing beyond AM/PMPS, probably. They charge $200/day to do a curve.

I’d let this bounce clear and see where she ends up. If she doesn’t come down to green, I’d increase to 0.5u.

There’s a lot of time between now and Dec 20 so I wouldn’t worry yet about decreasing the dose for the vet stay.

Thanks, Marje. Should I wait until after cycle 6 to increase to 0.5, or could I increase in the morning, at cycle 5? I don't like wearing patience pants! :woot:

I understand but it can take six cycles to clear the bounce and, with your work schedule, you don’t want to jump the gun and increase on what turns out to be a bounce clearing day as they can be quite active.

Therefore, I’d give her six full cycles and then increase. Haha....why do you think we were all so anxious to “share” the patience pants.... :) the most reviled piece of wardrobe in L/L Land :p
