It's in the Basics, new to the group, start here sticky.

Nadir is the lowest BG number in the cycle (the 12 hours between shots). Today, so far, the nadir is 48. It is supposed to happen in the middle of a cycle, but cats will be cats and some can nadir at +1 or +11, or anywhere in between. Usually, your cat will have a pattern and nadir around the same time each cycle (and nadirs can be consistent in the am cycle, consistent in the pm cycle, but still be different. i.e. +4 in the am and +7 in the pm). Some cats move their nadir around often and are rather unpredictable that way. The more time goes on and you test and fill in the blanks on your spreadsheet, the better data you have to work with.

Take a note at the time - you'll need to retest him 30 min after he is done eating.
That's how long it takes the food to hit the bloodstream and affect the BG.

Leslie, your spreadsheet looks so good! Beautiful cycle for Mango today - I wish Ducia gives me more days like that...

You just entered another 59 reading in to the cell for +8 - the timing is wrong.
Can you please delete it and reenter the second 59 in to the +7 cell?
It should look like that : 59 @+7, 59 @+7.5 - otherwise it gives wrong info. The green back color will disappear but do not worry about it - accurate info is by far more important than pretty appearance.

You might want to test and post 1/2 hour before PMPS and ask for advice. He could bounce and be in really high numbers. I was amazed how fast my Neko's numbers could rise.

Going up, 84. I will recheck at 6 for pmps. I know he won't need any.
Great number - especially if you did not give him any food after the second 59 reading - it is awesome! Good advise from Wendy above.
I'll check in before your pmps to see how Mango does and what others with experience think about tonight's dosage.
You did so very well for him today!

pmps is 104! No shot tonight. I will check on him in a few hours. It sure would be nice if there was no shot tomorrow either.

How very nice of him not to go sky high!
Did he eat after his PM test, as usual?
If yes make sure you'll get a test at +3 (sooner if you wish, of course) - but so many cats with the strongs desire for a remission go lower than the PMPS 3 hours after they ate. I read it is because their pancreas is stimulated by the food to produce some juice of its own - it'll be interesting to see if Mango is lower 3 hours after!

Another thing to consider is that that 3 units depot is still active, most likely, and might have affect on the BG level - keep an eye out for him and take that +3 test. I hope he will be safely lower than 104 - it'll be great sign!

Leslie , you and Mango had such a great run today :D, although you must be exhausted, I got it.

Yes he did eat. I will check him at about +3. Thank you guys so much for everything.

Mango's amps is 228 so I gave him 1 unit. We can tell he is feeling much better now than he did before we found out he has FD.

I shoot at 5 am on weekdays and I try to shoot at that time on weekends but it ends up a little later at about 30 min.

The vet has him all over with different doses. First it was 2 units, then 3 now 1.
I see many vets doing the same - it says to me that a vet is more familiar with the old, the in and out, insulin types. It's not going to work with Lantus, though. I think one unit dose is a good start for him, if it does not give you good nadirs then after 3 days you can increase the dose by a quarter of a unit - if you choose the TR (posted above). If you choose the SLGL method then the dose is help for 7 day.

I don't think yesterdays numbers are not what he will be because I gave too much juice and there was a lot in the depot. I think today will be more accurate now that he is on 1 unit and will stay on it for 3 days.

Leslie --

Can you start a new thread (we call them condos) for today? We encourage people to have a daily condo and to link the condos together (copy and paste the link from the previous day into today's condo). It's hard to plow through 80+ posts to know what's doing on with Mango.

How do I do it?
click on "Lantus/Levemir" (the board title) below, then on the new page you will see a "Post New Thread" button top right. use that. If you copy the link to this page before leaving it, you can add it to the top of your new post so that people can come and read the history here.

Hi Leslie,
HERE is the link to Lantus & Levemir Forum - click on it. Right upper corner -blue box that said "POst new thread" - click on it, a little window called Create Thread will pop up - and voila! Start with on the subject/title line with the current date, Mango's name and the current AMPS result+list all of the subsequent tests results you've got so far. SO, it'll look something like that on the title line: "12/10 Mango AMPS 228, +3 166, +5 155" - and then tonight after PMPS reading add the PMPS info in the same fashion: "12/10 Mango AMPS 228, +3 166, +5 155, +7 XXX...: PMPS XXX, +2 XXX..." etc. To add info to the already created title go to your 1st, the initial post for that day - upper right corner has Thread Tool box - hover the mouse above it and click on Edit Title - it'll get you to the title line to add or edit whatever you need. I hope this helps - it did for me and I hate computers.

He loves the cheese!!! thanks!
:D then Mango has a great taste! My Ducia too a cheeze lover.

I'd wait for at least a couple of cycles to unfold and then let's see what is going on. Cats are certainly love to be unpredictable and do not read rule books;).
Good luck with creating the new thread - see you there!
