Reduction this AM to 0.25 due to shark dive last night at Cycle 3 on Lev 0.5

Are there any tips on back-to-back reductions? I reduced because she dove so low on the AlphaTrak last night and then the day before that, as well. I'm assuming that was the right thing to do, but wondering whether I should bring her up quickly again to 0.5 if she doesn't respond well to the 0.25 dose she's on as of today.

Surf safe tonight, FDMB kitties! :)

Congrats on the job! I'm glad the magic bullet is working out. I'm from just outside of D.C. as well (NoVA) and most of my family is still there.

When you took the reduction to 0.5 on the 7th, did you go back up to .75 in the am on the 8th and then back to 0.5 in the pm again? Or was that a typo?

@Stacy & Asia what a great catch! That was a tired brain typo; she got 0.5 on the am of the 8th. Thanks for catching that... :-)

Really not too much snow. Occasional periods of several inches, and about every 5 years there will be an ice storm that takes down power lines and trees. Of late we've had mild winters, so probably due for another ice storm.

OK has some beautiful native prairies and some granite mountains that are great for hiking. My husband and I were both born here. We lived in Manassas, VA for about a year and San Rafael, CA for about a year, but we always wind up back in OK!
@Alicia & Maggie , of course you know now that I can't get the song from the musical out of my head... :-)
I'd love to see an untouched prairie one day - it must be so beautiful.

Okay good, I thought it was a typo, but I wasn't sure. Hope the reduction works. I know there are wonky things with back to back reductions I have read about, but I'm not too familiar. Hope someone else can chime in for you still, at least so you have the info going forward. Girlie is too tricky for me to even make a guess at what she'll do!

Thanks, Stacy. Although she's so much better on Levemir - it's like she's a different cat! I'm so glad we switched. :-)

Oh no! She read your condo!

I'm glad you switched too, but I refuse to comment on that because of you know who! ;)

What the heckerino is she doing? She's now 85 at +4 after 12% food at +3 - a 65 point drop!

This cat, I tell you...although I am very grateful for the healing greens. I just wish she'd stay in the good ones for a while. Here's hoping 0.25 will do it for her for a while.

The vet is going to look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them how low a dose they have to give her every day. I wonder if they'll wear my ultra-chic magnifying headset to draw the doses? I'd love to see a picture of that...:woot:

Okay: she just tested (two different strips from a fresh vial) at 67; the take action number on AlphaTrak2 is 68. Does this mean I take another reduction straight away tonight again?

7 December: PM reduction to 0.5 after AM shark dive to 38
8 December: PM shark dive to 52
9 December: AM reduction to 0.25; AM shark dive at +5 to 67

I don't understand what is going on or what I should do! Is this a Levemir thing, or has she suddenly decided to run down the dosing ladder?

And she's getting MC food with these drops to shark territory... @Wendy&Neko or @Marje and Gracie : any suggestions? I don't understand this!

+5 = 67: 16% food (ate 1/2 tsp)
+20 mins: 97 - not interested in food so gave 2 tsp 14% gravy (CIK Pumpkin Jack Splash)

I'm wondering whether I should hold her at 0.25 tonight (which would be cycle 2), or reduce to 0.1

I need a crystal ball, I think!

Ack! It's a slow time on the board. When do you need to shoot? Could you stall for a tad to see if someone comes around?

We've still got 6 hours to go before her PM shot. I know, though, that I can't stay up tonight - I have to get some sleep - so I either reduce to 0.10 or I really carb her up on high carb food.

In 12 days she's going to be at the vet's and I'm heading to DC for 9 days. I hope we get to a relatively stable place before then. My mom doesn't know I'm coming, so I could put the flight off til later next year if I have to, but I was hoping to surprise her for Christmas. We'll see how Girlie goes, though.

+5=67: 16% fud (only ate ca 1/2 tsp)
+5:30 = 97: 14% gravy 2 tsp (wouldn't eat food)
+6=121: no food (wasn't interested)

If you have not yet shot, then stall. Feed and test again. I hope . @Wendy&Neko or @Marje and Gracie or @Gill & George, @Bobbie And Bubba,

If no one responds, rather than reduce, it might be good to skip tonight, especially since you can't stay up, and Girlie's not interested in eating.

Have you considered taking Girlie with you? Costs an extra $75 to fly with her, in a carrier in the passenger part of the plane. I did it with a very sick kitty, and she did well.

Anyway, hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Today's cycle is likely still influenced by the 0.75 unit depot. The larger depot can influence 4-6 cycles after a reduction. Today is cycle 4 after 0.75 and 0.5 is still talking too. I would not reduce her dose further. I also wouldn't want to guess what to do tonight until you are closer to PMPS. Skipping is an option. So is high carb food. That option you don't mess with the depot.

I wouldn't dream of taking Girlie overseas! A reduced dose is how you handle being away. TBD what that dose is yet. Plenty of time yet.

Hi Kathy,
I only wish I could! I live in Australia, and no airline allows pets in the cabin on international flights - not even in first class. Girlie's over 18 years old, and she'd never make it through the 24-hour journey away from me. I have trouble making it through the flight myself! :-)

Thanks, Wendy - of course, the depot is still at work here - that makes sense. I won't reduce further. She's 110 now after no food for almost two hours, so that's good. We still have 3 hours until shot time to go.
A couple of times I've faced this dilemma of whether or not to shoot, but I so hate to mess her up....we'll see where she is in a few hours.

OMG! I thought you were in one of the US areas. And 18yrs is too old to handle the pressure differences, even inside the cabin. Sorry I misinformed you.
