Switching to Soulistic Polynesian Picnic for a while. I can't squint hard enough today... definitely a blue start.
Our computer's cooling system is on the fritz, so while we wait on the new part to arrive I'm using the TV to surf the internet, and boy is it a pain! Mainly because I have to use a small wireless keyboard and sit with it on my lap instead of at a desk.
Hope everyone is gearing up for a great weekend!

If what cause AM blue numbers for Meme and Maggi is dawn phenomenon then i have trying to shot at 8:00 am. I read about that and they said it is usually happened between 6:00 am and 8:00 am, it is hard for me to shot at this time but i have to figure it out hoe to reduce that AM blue for sure:(

@Marje and Gracie I got the results for the last creatinine-protein ratio. The first two tests were .4 and this one is .5. I haven't talked to the vet yet, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on what, if anything, should be done next. Thanks as always for being so generous with your time to everyone on FDMB.

Data from several studies indicates that keeping the UPC below 0.4 increases longevity in CKD cats. Here is an older, but easily readable article about diagnosis and treatment of proteinuria.

First, I would talk to my vet about categorizing the proteinuria to ensure it is “renal” (attributable to CKD) and not “prerenal” or “postrenal”. If it is renal, there are varying opinions of whether treatment should be started at 0.4 or 0.5 but she’s right there with those three tests. You can also try feeding a low protein, high quality diet but that might be tough to find with LC and low P.

Second, if it is renal, I’d discuss with my vet about whether to put her on a low dose of benazepril. This is a heart med and I don’t know how it will work with her amlodipine but I do know that when amlodipine doesn’t adequately control high BP in cats, they will often add benazepril. The other BP med used for proteinuria is Telmisartan but there is not as much research using it in cats with proteinuria as there is benazepril. If she were my kitty, I think I’d discuss starting with benazepril to see if it helps. Here is the discussion on Tanya’s regarding proteinuria and treatments.

I hope that helps to give you a bit of info to discuss with your vet. Maggie is so lucky to have you.

Pls let me know if you have questions. :bighug:
