Does anybody know if I can trust the numbers on the Relion Confirm? I've been told that being it's a for-human monitor it might be off (low). I told my vet which one I had and she didn't say anything about that. I was just feeling good about him being down to 327 this morning and 330 tonight (down from 561 at the vet).

Human meters will read lower than pet meters. The difference is less at low BGs and larger at high BGs. Converting from one set of readings to the other can't really be done. It's best to work with either a human or pet meter and learn the good and bad BG ranges for that meter. The key thing to remember is the "take action" number signifying BG that's getting too low: 50 on a human meter and 68 on a pet meter.

Everyone here understands human meter readings and can advise accordingly.

So tonight I got a 330 just before feeding. What might that be on a meter made for cats?
Hard to say. It could be 100 points higher on a pet meter - or not. It's best to learn to judge the human meter numbers. A BG in the 300s is high but not extremely so. If the BG readings going forward stay consistently in the 300s that's a sign that the dose might need to be increased. One BG number by itself doesn't tell the story. You need to judge it relative to the lowest BG of the cycle and compared to the range of BGs over the last few days.

I've only been able to test at feeding time so far. Hopefully by Friday or Saturday I can test every two or three hours.

I am very new, but thanks to advice from others got a 'control' bottle of solution from the manufacturer (there is a number on the box to call and they will send it free), which I suppose gives some insurance that the monitor is working correctly.

When I wasn’t sure I tested my civvie as comparison. Definitely normal numbers on civvie (4.2) and 19.5 for my diabetic.
