hi everyone. My name is nicki. My 13 year old cat tiger lily was diagnosed as diabetic about a year ago. She seems to be insulin resistant. She is on vetsulin, 8 units 2x daily.

Welcome to you both! If you are having blood curves done at the vet instead of testing at home, that can certainly help save you a LOT of money. And those here with acromegaly cat's or Cushing's cats (not sure if we have any Cushing's parents right now?) might be able to talk more about symptoms.

We can help.

Welcome to the group. My cat Leo had Acromegaly. He is recovered now, since he was treated with radiation in Sept 2016. His symptoms before Acromegaly treatment:
- "drank" insulin like water, ever increasing doses up to 18 units/dose
- lots of urination
- he was hard to regulate and was hard to achieve good nadirs (low points) during the mid-point (6 hours) of his insulin cycle
- he got neuropathy (hind leg weakness) during the unregulated part of his journey
- at the high point of the Acro, he had internal growths (abdomen, paws), and his jaw changed

In summary, the Acro can be treated...if your cat does have acro. You can keep increasing the insulin dose. Over time it may be quite a bit of insulin.
