Cycle 7, and Girlie's stuck in the high numbers again. Our last green was Cycle 1 of the reduction to 0.5; after that, we've hit some blues, but mostly pinks, reds and blacks. She's still been having big drops (over 100 pts/hour), so perhaps this is all some awful bounce?

Her nadirs:
12 Nov am+5: 68; pm+7: 128
13 Nov am+4: 317 / pm+6: 169
14 Nov am+9: 130 / pm+4: 180

She might be going lower at night after +7; I'll try to check that one night.

That's great news she's eating without the help of drugs! Keep it up, Girlie! :):cat: Do you add any water to her food? I add a tad just to give the extra water, Asia doesn't really have issues with constipation (touch wood) but every emergent vet visit she's had, dehydration was a part in what was going on so I try to get some extra moisture in there. I would do that for the renal failure anyway, but it's got to help with keeping regular a bit as well.

@Toebeans yes, she gets extra water in her food as she finds it easier to eat slushy food; Max too. She also has a Drinkwell ceramic water fountain that she adores; she drinks heaps, which is good given that she's a senior lady who has renal issues. :-)

Those look fun! Will have to look into one or two of those. Come on down, now, Girlie. Your momma (and all your Internet friends) like those blues on you!

unfortunately,
back in black will now be playing in my head all night....
i'm just so suggestible.
Nine lives! Cats' eyes!

oh no...

drink a big glass of water at bedtime so you Have To get up.....
believe me it works....
just have your meter right there with you and grab that quick odd time test..... and right back to sleep....

Yes I know - such a great song...

I do the water thing; that's one of the best suggestions out there for forcing yourself to wake up. Unfortunately, I have trouble getting back to sleep, so if the alarm goes off, then it will take me at least an hour or two to fall asleep again. That's why I've been in zombie land lately: not enough sleep for too long.

I don't want to miss the PM +4 or 5 in case she needs additional food to stall a deep dive, but then I either stay up the rest of the night or miss the +7/+9. Difficult choice at the moment. At some point, though, I have to just take a night off for myself and get in at least five or six hours. We'll see how we go tonight... (yawn! - we need an emoji for that!). :-)

It's the morning that gets me. I wake to her AMPS shot time, and I'm fuzzy. This morning I started to give her shot with the lancet. Fortunately my brain said, "No, Kathy, that doesn't look right." And I realized that it really didn't look right.

Hopefully that's just a hyuge bounce you're seeing. Hugs:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you for the hugs... :-) Well, it's getting worse, unfortunately! AM+10 = 729 Yikes, yikes, yikes! :(

When she did this on Lantus, there was almost no moving her bar a dose increase. I won't be able to monitor her tomorrow morning, though. Not sure what to do ... ARGH! :banghead:

Kathy, thank you for making me smile! I'm sure she would have appreciated the shot with the lancet instead, though. :-)

A FDMB/Google SS question: the other day, a weird thing happened, but only here on FDMB or the SS: there's a little white square that blocks text - it appears where my cursor should and I can't see the words beneath it. It isn't happening when I type - only when I scroll through the page. Has this ever happened to anyone else? This doesn't happen on other pages - just here.

Here it is on bubble wrap guy - whom I absolutely adore, btw @rhiannon and shadow (GA)

I'd put out a 911. This sounds like you need help stat.

Never saw that. Sounds like you might have found a bug. Seriously, I think a 911 is in order.

If you look at Girlie's SS, you can see that we've had a LOT of experience with runs of very high numbers (unfortunately) and - up to now, knock on wood - no ketones. When she bounces, she goes HIGH!

Off to see Girlie's ss now.

Whooaa. Roller coaster kitty!

She's a Burmese! My very first breed cat was a Burmese. Fifty years ago, and what a love she was. Rode on my shoulder, sometimes chatting (howling actually). Burmese are superb companions.

Nowadays I have former strays. Living in the country is what caused that. lolol

Off to bed now. Keep trucking!

Girlie looks like she's getting stuck in the high numbers again. Although she hits blues after deep dives, the majority of her numbers are high blacks, reds, and pinks. I almost increased to 0.75 of Levemir tonight, but then chickened out. I'm going to increase tomorrow unless anyone thinks that's a bad idea.

Her nadirs:
12 Nov am+5: 68; pm+7: 128
13 Nov am+4: 317 / pm+6: 169
14 Nov am+9: 130 / pm+4: 180
15 Nov am+4.5: 491

She might be going lower at night after +7; I haven't been able to get those tests in yet.

Just a suggestion on the alarm. See if you can find a ring tone for your phone that isn't quite as jolting. Alarms are one of those things that set my anxiety off BIG time. Hubby got me an alarm clock that has nature sounds and I wake up to ocean waves now :). A much more pleasant awakening. I use a nice bell type tone on my phone that I use on the weekends so I don't have to reset my alarm clock all the time.

I hope this is just a big bounce and Girlie comes back down for you. :bighug:

Good Morning, consistency in doses are, as far as I know, the key of getting a kitty regulated. Maybe the more experienced people from this forum can comment on that but from personal experience, the worst jumps in Toro's BG numbers were when, some time ago, inexperienced, we were trying to reduce or increase after few cycles, based on one very low or one very high number.....with so many readings around the clock, there are not too many chances to happen anything wrong, especially on low numbers.....some kitties need to hit the low numbers repeatedly in order to get regulated.....just my 2 cents. Good Luck!

Girlie, get down from there! You made your point, no need for 700s! Sheesh!

Girlie is so tricky. It says to hold for at least 10 cycles if nadir is under 100, but I feel like that nadir on the 12th was still under the influence of Lantus, I would be itching to increase with those numbers too. But, if you're following to the letter, you should wait it out a tad longer. Because it's a new insulin, there could be some new insulin wonkiness (is that a thing?) and the bouncing. Sorry, Darrah, Girlie is such a challenge. You are such a great caretaker and you have the patience of a saint! :bighug:

Hoping this bump brings some more experienced eyes for you. :bookworm:

She didnt move overnight - blacks - so I’m thinking an increase is due, especially as we’ve made the switch to Lev and she reduced after just two cycles...???

I'm not entirely sure what constitutes a failed reduction, if just the numbers go back up, or if there's a cycle of good numbers and they go back up after that?
