Hi everyone, i was wanting to know what does it mean when summer stayed close in numbers all day? I tested her 13 times thursday because i noticed she was getting lower in her numbers. I know poor summer! 13 times but she is a good patient. She stayed so close in her numbers thursday and i didn't know what to make of it. But as you can see when you look at her ss she is back to her up and downs yesterday. I guess tomorrow morning i would start her on 2 units?? And on the ss, how do i edit the remarks without having to redo the whole remark? Because when i click on the remark i made to edit it, it wants to disappear. Thanks to you all for being here and i hope your sugar kitties are all doing well!

I'm not sure what the flat numbers point to and I'm hopeless with spreadsheets, but per the TR protocol, assuming nothing exciting happens tonight, I think she is due for an increase in the morning to 2 units.

What do i do if Summer is due for a snack and i notice her number is dropping?? Do i hold off on the snack and see how low she will go?? She tested 220 @ +3 and then she dropped to 165 @ +4.

Your nadir is no longer over 200 as of today, so I'm not sure if you should increase tomorrow or hold a couple more cycles. Hope others chime in.

INCREASING THE DOSE:
  • Hold the dose for 3 - 5 days (6 - 10 consecutive cycles) if nadirs are less than 200 before increasing the dose by 0.25 unit.
    • if your cat is new to numbers under 200, it is recommended to hold the dose for at least 8-10 cycles before increasing.
    • when your cat starts to see nadirs under 100, hold the dose for at least 10 cycles before increasing.
  • After 3 days (6 consecutive cycles)... if nadirs are greater than 200, but less than 300 increase the dose by 0.25 unit.
  • After 3 days (6 consecutive cycles)... if nadirs are greater than 300 increase the dose by 0.5 unit.

Flat numbers can mean many things. High and flat can mean not enough insulin. Some cats do flat cycles before a cycle with a lot of action. In Summer's case, you really didn't need to test so often. Save that for when her numbers are green. I think you could increase tomorrow, unless you see lower blue or green tonight, in which case you would hold longer.

If you want to edit the Remarks, first click on the content. What is there should appear either at the top or bottom of the spreadsheet, where you can edit.
