Phoebe's Rebound pt. 25

Good morning everyone! I need some friendly advice. Phoebe got out of the house Saturday for a whole 2 minutes on Saturday and in that time managed to get a tick on her. The first time this has ever happened. I removed a tick but I wasn't sure if the head was completely out? Does anybody know what I should be looking for or how to treat it to keep infection away? It's not pussy or anything. As soon as I remove the tick I cleaned it with peroxide and put Neosporin on it.

If you removed it as soon as she came in, it probably hadn’t attached itself. There are illnesses that cats can get from ticks, but while I’ve had ticks get on my cats, horses and even myself, none of us have ever gotten sick. I think, just keep an eye on it and if she shows any signs of illness, take her in and be sure to tell the vet. If you remember what the tick looked like, look it up online and see what type it was since certain ones carry certain diseases. Keep us posted!

It was attached it was drawing blood. It wasn't fully engorged though. Thank God! But I had to use the tweezers to get it off.

Hopefully all is well. I remember when I got bit, internet said 5 days from bite you’d see any symptoms. I got a little swelling exactly 5 days later, no illness, but went to Dr. and he put me on antibiotics just in case.

Thanks Sharon. I've been monitoring it. It doesn't seem infected and she seems ok. But it freaks me out!

I'm afraid I'm no help at all on this since we don't have ticks in this part of the country, but just wanted to wish Phoebe well, and good job getting it out! Thank goodness you found it quickly!!!

Thank you Djamila. I thought ticks were everywhere?

We have them in the state, but I've never heard of anyone seeing one in the Puget Sound area. Maybe because it's so wet all the time? If you go east over the mountains or south toward Oregon there are lots of them though.

OUCH! Down Phoebe, blue is pretty! How is she doing Eric? No problem from the tick bite I hope.
So far so good. But tick bites you have to keep an eye on. So I don't want to say complete success because we're not out of the woods yet.

Hope the tick bite doesn't cause any issues! I've got no experience with ticks (thankfully) so no advice, but plenty of good vines!

During Phoebe's morning feeding we were visited by a big gray Tabby that reminded me of Bobo! She wasn't too thrilled hahaha! I put a can of cat food outside for him.

Here's what I shared on Facebook in the a.m. before I posted on here.
Now this is weird. This morning at 6:35a.m. Phoebe is growling and going bat **** crazy at the slider. I turn on the outside light to see a big grey tabby staring in. I never have strays! Looked just like Bobo! Then just now I see this picture of Bobo from 3 years ago popped up in my feed! Bobo loved chocolate even though he wasn't ever really given it lol! But he had his ways of getting it....hahaha!
