PMPS = 176
+2 =184
+3 = 183
+6 = 195

AMPS = 295

Gizmo's numbers seem to be trending back up, but I am hopeful that he will come back down into at least blues again today.

Vacation - We will give Gizmo's PMPS Thursday night and then my mom will be taking care of Gizmo for the next 9 days. She will be testing before shots and possibly a midcyle test once in a while (not every day). Gizmo is on cabergoline. He will finish Gabapentin Thursday morning and just recently started Zobaline (over the weekend). I will be in contact with my mom daily about Gizmo's numbers and insulin needs. Gizmo is currently on 9 units. Advice for a vacation dose?

Since your mom won't always be able to get a mid cycle test in, you may need to go down to 8.5 or even 8 units. Gizmo's numbers may be a little higher, but it's best to be safe. Others with more experience with high doses may have a better suggestion.

PMPS = 300

Yuck! Could this be a bounce from the nice string of blues and a few greens mixed in? I don't want to give up the blues and greeens yet. :( He was very mouthy tonight from about +9 on. Then he peed on my kitchen cabinet right before PMPS. This is the second time in a few weeks and he has never done this before recently. I'm so worried about leaving him. :nailbiting:

Sounds like he is trying to tell you something. Maybe he got a sign that you're going away and is showing he's unhappy about that. Otherwise, it is something to keep an eye on.

I wondered that as well. Seems like something just isn't right. I don't know if he just isn't feeling good with his numbers bouncing all around or if it is something more. I doubt it is related to us going away. We used to travel all the time, so he is pretty used to being left behind (until this summer when he got to tag along). We will definitely be keeping an eye on him when we return.

Well look at that! Almost the same +3 as Mav :cool:, have you figured out how they talk to each other yet to make plans?! Glad Gizmo is having a nice time at the beach with Mav for a change!

Good luck with the vacation dose, the 9u depot will still be in play for a few days after you are gone, just wondering because he is higher dose, maybe the vacation dose should start a day before you leave? Hope one of the more experienced folks gives some advice, seems to me Gizmo looked ok (safe) on 8u just recently?

I'm so curious about the AMPS numbers: I was just looking at the SS, and it seems like AM is usually pink or yellow. I haven't checked in for a while (apologies! dramatic life on my end...), but do you know why Gizmo goes up like that? Or is it a source of neverending :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: for you? :)

Sorry - I forgot that Gizmo was an Acro cat and that you're using Cabergoline. :-)

I used to start a reduced dose three cycles before I needed Neko to be safe, to drain the depot and see if it was an OK dose. I think I would go down 1 unit, especially with few mid cycle tests. Rather him a little higher so you don't have to worry.

UTI symptoms usually include jumping in and out of the kitty litter pan and straining to urinate (looks like constipation). One of my cats also yowled in pain.

But those symptoms occurred when the UTI had advanced into blockage.

Very difficult to know if the inappropriate urination was due to psychological or physical difficulties. Gabapentin relaxes the neurological signals to musculature, so I'm wondering if it has relaxed his sphincter a tad too much?

I'm wishing you heaps of good things for your vacation. I have trouble leaving Girlie alone for a day, so I well understand the concern of leaving for 9 days. You are fortunate to have a mom who will help so that Gizmo can stay at home.

Oh, I hope you have fun while you're away! And that you enjoy sleeping in and having a good night's sleep. :-)
