Maybe she'll level out today. Eating well, but gave her Mirtazapine capsule instead of usual compounded liquid; will be curious to see if that makes her appetite more consistent.

Has put 4 paws down for the 9%, but found a different Wellness 8% that she's eating for now.

8%: AMPS: 256
8%: +1= 292 (+27)
13%: +2 (-108)
There she goes! Should have given 13% at +1, I guess... :banghead:

Ketones negative: whoop whoop! :-)

Sending some patience vines. Man that girl of yours loves to bounce and dive! I have been watching your threads as I hit the same issue with Jones and have been trying to give some extra cars at shot time and in his dish to eat first thing. Still working out the bugs of enough vs. too much extra carb.

Yes, she's entertaining!

I'd ask a more experienced person to look at your SS re: adding more carbs at shot time. Girlie is in her own little universe, but most cats only have to go to MC or HC food if they're in shark territory, I think, or drop more than 50 points in an hour. I took a glance at your SS and don't see huge bounces, but then, I'm used to Girlie. I'd be careful as you don't want to give too much carb and then really bounce! It's an interesting dance, isn't it? But get a more experienced person to guide you, for sure! :-)

Hope I'm doing the right thing here: @Marje and Gracie , I'm trying to keep her in steady yellows and - so far at +4 - have been successful. I'll be really curious to see if she dives later in the day as she did yesterday.

We have POO!!! But only one small, hard piece of poo...despite 1/4 tsp AM/PM of Miralax and 2.5 ml AM/PM of Cisapride and fresh pumpkin AM and PM. I stopped the AVJ temporarily when she started getting nauseated to try to rule that out as a cause. :banghead:

I'm actually surprised that she poo'd at all today, given that she had an enema on 2 Nov. I'm loathe to increase the Miralax as then we'll get the opposite of hard, round poo, but it looks like I might have to. Could the higher numbers she's been dancing around for a while now be contributing to the constipation issues, I wonder?

don't see huge bounces
Not huge ones, but it seems like any green with a yellow start numbers seemed to throws him back up to yellows/pinks for awhile. Been struggling since the prednisolone dose increase so another layer of mystery to work through - like your poo issues. I think he is finally starting to come back down to lower numbers in a consistent manner. Finding the right dose is a like the lottery. If I can get back to the blue/greens and a pretty consistent dose again...I will be happy.

Yay for the poo. I don’t think the higher numbers can cause the constipation but it can certainly work the other way around.

Nice start to the day!! Stay flat, Girlie!!!

Well, no flat yellow, unfortunately; the last four hours have been pink: should I not have given the 12% at +3 and +4 when she was starting to go up? It's so hard to tell, because at those particular times before she'll go up, but then the next hour she'll come diving down...hmmm... :banghead: :)

How much does the PS number and the hours before that figure in to all of this, I wonder? I know that she dives quicker and deeper from a high number, but she'd already dived 108 points in an hour from +1 to +2... I pray for clarity and an epiphany! :-)

PMPS 529: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: ... and maybe one more for good measure! :banghead: :)

@Marje and Gracie , just fyi, I won't be able to do this kind of intense monitoring and feeding much longer. :( As of this week I'll be at work every afternoon (after AM+5:30), and as of 27 Nov, I'll be back at work full-time. She hasn't taken to the timed feeder, and unless she's diving, she doesn't go looking for food - I bring her food to her and she eats it if she feels like it. Now that summer is coming, I have no doubt that she will just sleep on the verandah all day until her BG drops so low that she decides to go looking for food. So things are going to get interesting moving forward... I'll have to just leave food out that she can graze on when she wants.

When I look at today vs. 2 and 3 November, I'm not sure where to go. I don't seem to be very successful at being proactive. It seems like she wants to go to blues and greens. It seems like my attempts to stall and try to hold her in yellow failed utterly and drove her to high black numbers by tonight. :(

Notes on today:
  • I probably shouldn't have given more 12% at +4 as it was the second hour straight she was going up; then again, she's taken a dive before after she's gone up
  • I thought I was giving her an AM+7 treat with a tiny amount of zero carb food, but it turns out it was actually +8: not good. I try not to feed her after +6 or +7
  • Yellows: looking back at her SS, she has very rarely had a sustained run of yellows in one day; it doesn't seem to be a number she stays with; she either drops to blue or green or might increase to red or higher.
I don't think she'll go down tonight, so I'll just leave some food out and try to catch up on some sleep. Tomorrow is another day, and I'm sure Girlie will be just as entertaining once again!
