Nice numbers yesterday but I realize I need to get more confident with lower numbers to continue to make progress. Thanks everyone for suggestions!

I promise I'm not doing random dosing. It might look somewhat random, but over the last 2 weeks, Rose has seen numbers in the 40's with wildly different doses and it has freaked me out. As suggested, I'll be taking Rose to the vet for both routine blood work and also high dose testing this week.

Yesterday.

Good morning Carol,

sorry I have no advise - it looks too complex for me to figure out the dose . I hope someone with greater experience will help because I can only dream that Ducia has Rosie's numbers..

IMHO, the lower doses you shot in the past couple of days drained the depot a little by now and getting 47 this AM cycle earned the reduction. If it was me I'd try 3.75 and give the depot full 6 cycles to stabilize and then reassess how that reduction works. But wait for others to comment, as I said - it is tricky for my level of understanding:oops:.

Another thing to try would be trimming the dose - draw 4 units exactly and then expel 1 large drop out. I tried this technique several times using digital caliper but ,frankly, it is a headache because I was never sure my doses were the same every shot and you know how unforgiving the depot is.

Thanks Tanya - These are both good options. Let's say 3.75 is the current plan of record unless there is a good argument for something different. I felt bad with 2 BCS in a row, but I can't increase overnight. Too much stress for me!

I'm having trouble figuring out the whole depot thing. Although I understand it in concept, in actuality, Rose seems to take longer to drain the depot. This is adding to my stress especially when the dose is on the higher side. It helps to have someone to review ideas and options! Thank you!!! Thinking green for you and Ducia. :D

Hi Carol,
Rosie isn't making this easy is she!

By way of an explanation, with the last four doses being different, it makes it difficult to know if the 4u is really too much. Flipping about with the dose makes the numbers wonky and hard to read. Every time we change a dose the depot has to adjust either up or down, and that can influence the numbers in the cycle.

If you feel more comfortable shooting the 3.75, you could go with that, but it would be helpful if you could try and hold on to the dose, and give the depot time to settle. Given that we don't know what we are dealing with (IAA and/or acro) it may not be a bad choice, but keep your eyes on the numbers and if you see her trending up be ready to take her up.
So you may need to feed the curve to try and steady the ship and see if you can encourage her not to drop below 50 in the next cycle.
I don't know if you did this this morning, but by way of an example I would have fed some higher low carb when you got that 72, and with the speed she was dropping I might have chosen to get a +4.5 to see if the higher low carb had slowed her or if indeed I might need to try a little more food.
Should I assume this is NDW and not a legitimate earned reduction???
It's not NDW, new dose wonkiness is when we take a dose up and numbers go up instead of down. :)

How easily did she come up from that 51??
Have you got another test in? +6.5
She's still in pretty deep water and when the HC wears off she may dip again.

BTW you're not bothering me at all, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, was out walking dogs, then feeding cats, and just finished my dinner before I logged on.

Just wanted to make a comment on nadir. @Tanya and Ducia

As I understand it Nadir is simply by definition, the lowest number in the cycle. Though you are right Tanya in that the overlap can alter the point in the cycle at which you get that lower number.

So sorry I did not respond. My mom suffered a stroke and I was at the ER all afternoon with her. @Gill & George gave good advice as per the depot and keeping it stable. Let's see what the 3.75 dose can do for her.

Sorry for the late response, I was in Victoria for a race and just on the net on the ferry now.

The larger depot can influence 4-6 cycles, so the 4.25 could have still been a bit in play. As Gill said, you can get odd numbers with frequent dose changes. But no harm trying 3.75 to see if you can shoot the same dose for six cycles.
