Yesterday almost all green!

Starbuck was having another nice day when I decided to bring her into the vet. For the past couple days she's been yowling like something hurts while she's eating (not every time), and sort of pawing at her mouth and licking her lips. I brought her into the vet to get her teeth checked, but he didn't see anything. Going to keep watching her and if it continues they might do an x-ray. As long as it doesn't get worse, I'm going to assume allergies or she got food stuck in her mouth. I just wanted to KNOW she didn't have something gross & infected in there.

Anyway, the 123 was at the vet and she also had some high carb treats so the rest of today will probably be high. (Vet was trying to reproduce the behavior.) Oh well.

Vet looked at her spreadsheet & said she was regulated very well. Also she lost a pound! :D

Hi,
not too long ago someone posted about bone fragments found in canned food - I could not locate that post now nor do I remember the food brand, I think it was Friskies. In that post the stomach of a kitty was blocked by the bone's debris.

Anyway, the behavior you described sounds a lot like something hurts her mouth - can you check her gums for possible cuts or bone pieces in them?

I got it - the vet looked at it...but in my book it never hurts to check after vets ;).

Congrats on the weight loss - we are struggling with it.
I hope she recovers very soon an it turns non event!

Funny you say that about the food because I first noticed it when she was eating a fish flavor. I don't do them very often but got some for a treat. After she freaked out, I thought it was a bone. But she's done it twice since with other FF flavors. The vet did check her gums pretty thoroughly but I will turn her into a burrito and give it a look if she does it again.

I have two other cats, all eating the same food, and neither of them reacted. That's why I wondered if it was a tooth thing, not bones.
 
123 is not bad for a vet induced BG, she'll promptly come back down, once she's been able to relax at home for a while. Try not to worry.

Hope you are able to figure out what's been bothering her.

I thought it was pretty good too! That's why I wanted to do a test, just curious how high she'd go when stressed out.
