Hello, I finally started Summer on .05 unit this morning and I have tested every hour since. I know I really don't need to but I have. It's been 5 hours since her am pre shot. How often would you guys be testing? I know I am over testing!! Lol. And can you guys check out her numbers and tell me what you think since starting her this morning? Thanks!

Good morning!
Sundays can be very quiet time @the board but I hope someone with greater than mine experience will stop by later on.
Before they do here is what I think:
can you please enter 0.5 into the U column for this morning? This way everyone will know that you gave the injection.
It is early to offer any assessment yet - maybe after couple of cycles on the dose but not now, at least not for me.

I always take the +2 or +3. The +2 is an early indication to the nature of cycle: if it is lower than the pre-shot than you can expect a cycle with lowering numbers thru nadir. (The nadir is the lowest point in cycle, depending on a cat it could be anywhere in the cycle, not necessarily the mid cycle. You will find out after several days of testing. ) If the +2 is higher than the pre-shot then you are looking to a quiet, slow cycle (most likely). Like today: her +2 of 282 is significantly higher than the pre-shot of 202. Frankly, at this point I'd put the lancet down and I'd take the +5 and +8. She looks flat right now. My guess is that it is how she is going to be this cycle.
I know I am over testing!! Lol.
I think most of us have done that - if you click on the Ducia SS in my signature you'll that on the beginning of out journey in March I tested non stop, lol. I wanted to understand Ducia's reactions and patters so badly and right away! LOL. All data is very useful. If Summer tolerates poking well and it make you feel more confident - go for it. After sometime collecting data you'll get better understanding as to how often to test, it is vary per cat and CG.

More detailed assessment can be done after several days of testing. If you re-post the same question mid week I am sure you'll get a lot of opinions from experienced folks here.

Your girls is GORGEOUS :). I hope she'll do well on Lantus!

Congrats on getting started with Lantus! I don't think you will see any great change since it is the first day. It takes a bit for the depot to build. See more here: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/lantus-levemir-what-is-the-insulin-depot.150/
Will you be following Tight Regulation or Start Low Go Slow protocol?
I'm sure you've read through the stickies, but read through them often in these early weeks and you'll find that you pick up something new every time.

Thank you for pointing out about me entering the .05 unit!! I completely forgot!! And thank you for the compliment on Summer! She says thank you!

Beautiful Summer! Great start with Lantus! You might want to check out some of the spread sheets to see what others have experienced. Coral was diagnosed in June of 2015 and went into "diet controlled mode" in late September of 2015. Best to you, Kathe and "The Girls"

The reality is that I think most of us test like crazy at first. It takes several days for the Lantus depot to form so don't be surprised if you don't see that much of a change in numbers. (Having said that, no doubt Summer will prove me a liar.) The value of being a testaholic is that you will learn Summer's patterns -- until, because she's a cat, she does something that confuses the heck out of everyone.

I'd encourage you to read through the sticky notes at the top of the board. They will help to get you acclimated and know where to find information when you need it. I agree that looking at other people's SSs (spreadsheets) will help your learning process -- and don't hesitate to ask questions about what you see or if something confuses you.

BTW, you have 2 links to Summer's SS in your signature. They both work so you can delete one if you like.

Thank you for pointing out about the 2 links of Summers Spreadsheet! I deleted one of them.
