Coral is now going into her 3rd year of being diet controlled. I usually take her BG once a month. She's been hanging out at the water bowl lately so I thought I would take her BG this morning. The DH gave her their morning feeding at around 6AM. I took her BG at 8:38AM and was surprised at the 37 reading. We are looking at changing her food from Nature's Variety LID Turkey to Wellness Turkey so both girls can be on the same food. We feed the girls 4 times a day, 6, 10, 2 and 6. Could the low BG be an issue? Any concerns that her BG is so low? Does feeding her every 4 hours help keep her on track? Could the different food be an issue? Her overall 30 BG average is 51. Other than that Coral is a very contented cat and the mum and DH enjoy her antics and times in the garden during the day and quiet, restful evenings. Best to all and healing for those in need, Kathe and "The Girls"

Good morning Kathe,

Congrats on the diet control! What an achievement!

37 is a bit low for my taste but since there is no insulin involved it is ok, me think. Some cats run very low - in the 30s as the norm. I wish I have more experience to share but my cat is still being regulated - high numbers.

Someone here @Mandy & Rex whose cat is in remission dealt with low numbers without insulin. I tag her to share her knowledge.

Best of luck!

PS. I'd keep testing to see the numbers.

Haha, @Mandy & Rex speaks the truth! Darwin is running super low during his OTJ trial (the reason he went on an "early" OTJ trial anyway).

I was trying to compare his numbers to his past labwork at the vet clinic I work at, and he's pretty much always been in the low 100's at the clinic (on analyzer, and prior to FD), so maybe if I factor in stress at the vet clinic; he has always been a low rider? Obviously never tested him at home prior to his diagnosis. Darwin is acting totally normal in these numbers, so I'm not worried at all!

@Mandy & Rex @Tanya and Ducia Thanks so much for being the referr-er and the refer-ee. You have put my mind at ease and helped the DH understand what may be happening. Cats often do weird things why should that surprise me? She is usually right out the door to go into the garden, today she lounged on the couch in the sun with the screen door wide open. Seems to be hungrier than usual, maybe she is just really liking the switch to the Turkey Wellness. Who knows? Just thankful that all is well. Blessings and healing for those in need, Kathe and "The Girls"

I'm glad othrs have put your mind at rest.

Does feeding her every 4 hours help keep her on track?

I feed every 3-4hrs, now that George is OTJ, small meals at regular intervals is believed to be easier on the pancreas. Interestingly when George misses his 5am autofeeder snack, his ambg is usually significantly higher.
