Yes, his numbers are definitely on the rise, no doubt at all, now. I'm hoping it's because of his eye and that they will go down again once his eye is better, but...sadly, I'm dubious. :(

The vet saw no damage to the eyeball itself, there's some obvious swelling and irritation on the lids but again, no visible damage. So - we don't know what the problem is but he put him on AB eyedrops for 3-5 days to see if it improves. He said it could be the beginnings of a URI, but everything else checks out fine, so he doesn't really think that's it. Could be a food allergy - but he's never had one before, so probably not. There are a couple of other obscure, off-the-wall things it could be, but he doesn't think it's any of those, and I trust him. Fingers and paws crossed that it clears up in a few days and that I can get his BG back under control.

Prayers and healing vines for all in need of them.

Should I raise his doseto 2.25, since his BG is obviously on the rise?

I have a theory about what's going on with his eye: I think something stung or bit him, like a wasp or a spider. My house is very old and in the country, so we get our fair share of insects, especially spiders at this time of the year. The reason I think this could be what happened is because tonight he's acting like that whole side of his face itches. We knew his ear on that side was itchy but thought it was just because it was a bit dirty - the vet cleaned it today - but now I'm wondering...My money is on a spider bite.

If it was me, I'd hold the dose and see if the AB works and brings his numbers down. You don't want him to go too low if you increase the dose and his numbers come back down at the same time. Poor Squallie. I hope he feels better soon. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

You're right, that could be a bad combination of events! Thanks, Carla, I will follow your advice. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

ETA: Looks like maybe his numbers are coming down a bit (anti-jinx, anti-jinx!), so I am hopeful!

Poor Squallie is just not having a good day! He got in a minor tussle with a civvie and ended up bleeding profusely all over my bedroom! It seemed to be coming from a front paw, but I couldn't find an actual injury. But I cleaned him up and he seems okay, hoping it doesn't get infected. My poor boy, what a tough day.

Poor Squallie. If you think he injured his paw, you could soak it in water with epsom salt. Years ago one of my civvies had a claw that curled under and grew into her foot a little bit. The vet had me soak it in epson salt for a couple of days. I think it was 5 minutes at a time. Sending prayers.

Thanks, Carla! Several years ago I had a civvie (sadly GA now) that Squallie used to bite on the paw on a regular basis, almost always resulting in an abscess that needed to be soaked! Poor guy had to have it done for 10 minutes at a time for about a week, each time it happened. So I'm real familiar with soaking kitty paws, lol, kind of ironioc that Squallie, who used to be the cause, is now the recipient. :facepalm::bighug:

C'mon Squallie get better so you can do those cute cat things and the mum can take a breather! Best and healing, Kathe and "The Girls"
Thanks, Kathe. Yes, Mum needs a breather! Every time I think all's well it seems like something else crops up! Hoping we're on the mend, now! :bighug::bighug:

@Squalliesmom @carfurby
Lucy and Carla, recently Azalea had an infected/swollen/very sensitive dewclaw pad. Vet suggested same kind of Epsom salts soaks. I ended up doing a wrap with a saturated wash cloth and squishing solution from the wash cloth into the inner areas. Azalea was not at all interested in paw soak any other way :facepalm:
Vines for you and your tribe and for Squallie feeling better today.❤️:bighug:❤️

Poor Squallie! Hope that things resolve soon. Hope the AB drops will address any inflammation that could be causing the higher numbers of late. Usually with an AB , it takes 72 hours for it to make a dif.
