Good morning L&L,

After yet another dose decrease failure Ducia is on 1U dose as of this morning. I am going to reread the "Taking reductions" post again but I think that I should keep Ducia on the same dose until she goes once below 40/below 50 x 3 times and hope that that will help her hold reductions better.

@Nan & Amber Good morning :),
I saw your last post on trying to find the right dose, and was just wondering-- maybe some of the problem might be irregularities in syringe markings? Especially when you are seeing differences between "fat" and "skinny" versions of the same dose, with Ducia being so sensitive. I can't remember if you use calipers or not, but it might be worth a try if you don't.
We use calipers (DH draws) - without it I have no clue how to draw micro adjustments. "Irregularities" in syringe markings is way too polite to describe the issue - not only the markings are irregular but the width of marking lines vary from package to package. I use Relion.

Ducia had new the +7 snack over he weekend- raw chicken heart. I thought she'd turn her nose up but the way she devoured it tells me that we do need to start the raw food intro. There were no issues with LB afterwards. I can get frozen from the grocery store for about $2.99 but at the butcher it was $4.99:eek: - never frozen, certified organic and he told me that it never stays on the shelf for long because people buy it for dogs.

Happy Mid Week everybody!:bighug:

Darn it, I was hoping that correcting the inconsistencies would help, but you are already doing everything possible there! Ah, well.

Very interesting about Ducia's reaction to raw! I have never tried that for my kitties, I bet at least one of them (the mouse hunter) would love it though.

I've been thinking about the switch for long long time but worry about bacteria. We even bought grinder for that. I think if we switch I'd try the semi roasted first - per Dr. Pierson, to kill off surface bacteria but keep the insides raw. Hubby believes that the raw food will help a lot with lowering BGs. My main motivator is that I lost trust in commercial food completely...Most are high in P and too secretive with formula changes. We feed Tiki Cat which she likes but it the same old same old every day, she might grow bored and it is insanely expensive :eek:. Ducia is a moderate eater and I hope that even feeding her organic from a butcher is going to be cheaper than the Tiki all the time ($1.99 per 2.8 oz can x 2 day = bankruptcy).
I think that the fresh kill game (the mouse) is the best - totally natural for cats. Ducia is such a mommy / indoor only girl that I am afraid she'd faint if she ever sees a real mouse :joyful:.

Good luck with the raw!! Rex is now on all raw and he loves it! I can't say the same for the others. I noticed that if it's not in pieces that don't require chewing, Tanner and Precious don't like it as much. Keena isn't on raw at all. I need to find a different pre-mix because he hates the smell of EZ Complete.

Oh, wow! I used to think that if I get EZ I am covered. Thanks for the info. Will you let us know when and what substitute you found?There is always home made mix per Dr. Pierson recipe bu it seems a bit laborious.

Congrats on successful transition. My DH did a lot reading and firmly believes we need to get serious about switching.
Do you add raw egg yolk too?
