But what percentages do the medium and high carb fall under? My boy is pretty carb sensitive and I'm afraid that here lately when he dips too low that I'm giving him too many carbs and it makes his bounce(s) even more dramatic.

For an 'official' answer, this is from the AAHA Diabetes Management Guidelines:
Carbohydrate levels can be loosely classified as ultralow (<5% ME), low (5% to 25% ME), moderate (26% to 50% ME), and high (>50% ME).

When Mia has started heading too low, I have used foods between 12 and 18% carb to steer her up. AAHA classifies that as still being low, but I consider it medium since her normal food is about 3%. When that did not do the trick, I used some that was probably somewhere between 25 and 30%. They consider that to be moderate, but I consider it high.

Well I guess I havent been using high carb food then. Usually I use something around 14-17%, but as I said he's carb sensitive. I picked up some more yesterday and I the highest is 20, but I think Ill reserve that for an extreme emergency.

Thanks for the link!!

Quite a few folks here seem to consider 12 - 15% calories from carbs as 'medium carb'. And the 'in gravy' foods that folks use to raise blood glucose are often something around 25% calories from carbs ('high carb').
However, it really does depend on your own cat's response to carbs. As ever, 'Know Thy Cat'.... :)

For a diabetic cat you really want to keep it under 10%. Most do under 8.
Unless I misunderstood, the question was not what is considered low carb for regular feeding but what is considered medium and high carb for use when BG is too low. "I'm afraid that here lately when he dips too low that I'm giving him too many carbs and it makes his bounce(s) even more dramatic."

You nailed it :)

Most do under 8.
His normal wet food is under 8% except one for one of the cans of duck and it's 9%.

Unless the cat is really tanking and needs a quick pick up, usually their regular food is enough to steer. To really raise it is smart to have a gravy lovers around.
