Felix ate a spoonful of canned food this morning! That's the first time he's done that in the three years I've known him. True, he's been grudgingly picking at dry with a bit of canned mixed in lately, but this was his first real foray into kibblelessness. :cat:

Yes, Felix definitely likes to keep to his habits. Thanks for the encouragement!

Another sign of progress, we're beginning to have more success with me testing from my fingernail. He still has anxiety when he sees me coming with his testing things, but the process is less upsetting when I don't bring that scary meter near his head. His distress is clearly more about anxiety than the discomfort of the poke; I have something of a white coat phobia myself, so I know how he feels.:nailbiting:

It gets so much easier. It was super hard for me and I think that Tiff felt my anxiety. Now, my husband and I both test her...make it kind of like a spa treatment, by scratching her ears and then she gets her favorite treat...a small piece of rare roast beef. She now purrs through her testing and does not seem to mind it at all.
