Hi, I'm going to ask about my cdk civvie cat cos I'm comfortable here. And I know many have experience with cdk.
Just got back from vet and my cat's kidney values did not improve from 3 months ago. Crea, bun and phos have gone up. Vet is adamant I only give renal prescriptive food from royal canin or hills. He does eat renal royal canin dry but he doesn't like the wet food. He likes his usual wet food. I argued with the vet that early stage of cdk, it's ok to give high protein food but she refused to listen. Insisted I changed his diet totally. Make me really mad cos doesn't she know how picky cats are!
So my plan is to add binder to his normal wet food and let him graze on renal dry. And subcut fluid 100ml daily. Vet wasn't keen on subcut. But I pushed for it. And she insisted on renal supplement. And she said must do SDMA test. Is this necessary? Anythg else I should do to help him improve? I've had him since he's 2 hours old and he's turning 14 in 2 weeks time. He's precious!
