9/21 - Cher's SS - Help needed please - formulas missing - unable to enter data

Also, make sure you're logged in to your SS. You should see your e-mail address above the blue "share" button on the top right side of your SS. Also, you need to change some of the access parameters. Anyone can edit your SS.

Weird cause it doesn't show that I have access to edit, only view. I do see one cell that is missing its formula though.
 
The formula is still showing as being active. In the ones on the world tab that you added extra information or times the formula will not carry over to the US and you have to do the conversion by hand and colour the box manually. Other than that I see the formula active in the upcoming boxes.

Hi Meridith

It is not carrying over from the World tab to the US tab and also in the US tab, I can't enter additional data into the cell/s. Additionally, sometimes I can't see what I am typing into the cell/s.... they remain blank until I hit tab/enter.

Also I accidently deleted part of a formula (relating to entering data into the cell/s) but I was able to get that missing/deleted information from my copy SS and transfer it to the main sheet. So that is working now.

My touch pad is very sensitive and has been causing me grief! I think that has a lot to do with the deleting of the formula info ...

Please advise if you need more clarification .... I know it is sounding a bit confusing...

Yes, I copied that data from the Copy SS so that is OK now. However the numbers are not transferring over to the US screen. I have been converting from World numbers and then entering them into the US screen manually. Initially, they just transferred automatically. Also I am entering information into the 'comments' column on both sheets ... it is not transferring automatically either.

From what I am seeing, all your formulas are there and you fixed the one that was messed up so everything should be working. Drop down a day and enter a number and then some text in the comment spot and see how it is working. I will be watching to see what it does.
 
Ok, I just noticed you entered numbers directly on the US tab. Unless you need to add additional information, like adding that you fed mc etc, you won't ever enter the number on the US tab.

SS is all good now thanks to the wonderful effort of Meridith and Zeke. Greatly appreciated!

Meridith and Zeke kindly fixed it for me .... hopefully I won't 'break' it again.

Marje pointed out to me that when you delete an item in the US SS, that messes things up (right Marje?). Better to backspace to remove data instead.

I do this ALL this time because I enter World numbers in the US SS and then delete the formula. I just go to the next cell over or down and copy the formula, paste it into the space that's missing it, and then change the column or line number. @Marje and Gracie am I doing that right, or is there some other way to do this? :-)
 
I also find that if I enter more than one number in a cell, then I have to manually multiply the world number by 18 and then put that in the US cell. If there's another way to do this , I'd love to know. :-)
 
I showed her an easy way to replace the formula. Say you deleted the formula in C4. Click on the box right below it, which is C5 so it is the active cell. Grab the larger square in the lower right hand corner of that cell (your mouse should turn to crosshairs once it is over this square), then drag it up to C4. It will replace the formula and you won't have to worry about changing any of the info in the formula because of the way stylesheets work with the dragging of formulas.

Yes, that’s the correct way to fix it if you delete anything from a US cell. Meredith’s way also works just fine.

Unfortunately, that’s the nature of the beast. There is no way to format the Google SSs with the World Conversion to allow more than just the numbers. If you just enter two numbers in a cell on the World SS, such as 3.9 and 7.5, for example, and do not put any spaces or symbols, the US SS will populate with the correct conversion. When I’m helping someone with their SS and they have more than one number in a cell, I’ll enter the BGs in the correct cell on World SS without anything else....just the numbers. It will then calculate the US ones so I go to the US SS and then manually add whatever else needs to be in that cell (for example, if one test was taken at +4 and another at +4.5, I’ll see what the US numbers are and then I’ll manually put them in there with a semicolon to separate the BGs and then add the @ 4.5. Make sense?
