Does anyone know exactly what a Geriatric Panel + Fruct + UA is?

I know the fructose, and I think the last part is about his urinary tract, but what's the rest? I just spent $230 on it and I'm happy knowing he's getting everything checked and he's healthy, but why does it cost so much? That wasn't even including the rest of the cost of the visit. The grand total was $378 (but there were some toys and treats in there)

I'm scared to add up the total I've spent at the vet in 2017, and he's about to go for that tooth cleaning which they estimated at up to $900 something. Friggen Herbert better cuddle me after this! (He's usually not a cuddler)
 
A geriatric panel is a senior blood panel.....tests everything we worry about in older cats like kidneys, liver, potassium, etc.


Was yours done by Antech or IDEXX?
 
$900.00+ seems awfully high for a dental cleaning. Is he having something else done like extractions etc.? Even with that the estimate is terribly high.
My costs for Leo this past year have been in the thousands, so I know how you feel. I tell him that he better darn well stay healthy at this point.
 
UA is urinalysis. You did need all that before the dental. My vet's office is high end as well in pricing. The labs sound normal but the dental a little high unless X-rays are included. My vet doesn't believe in X-rays but it's the best way to be sure all is caught while under anesthesia. Find out what they use. Gas is best and they come out quickly. I remember one time when scheduling two dental the receptionist told me to get ready to rob a bank! Dental vines and I hope you win the lottery.
 
Oh my- It seems vet bills can really vary a lot! I'm not sure what I would do if they quoted me $900.00 for a cleaning! Leo would have to go toothless!
