Not a bad AMPS. Still trying to figure out the TR prototcol. Not understanding why it's so difficult for me. But I'm reallllyyy confused still.

I hope everyone and all kitties have a good day! I'm off to barista/roast coffee. Yeah, I can figure out the chemical and scientific aspects or roasting coffee but not figuring out TR. lol!

Bf will be home all day to keep an eye on angel. :)

I hear ya! I was a former ProZincer and it was hard to shake what I finally learned there. Shooting on low numbers was so hard for me to understand. Once you get the concept that it simply has to do with how low they go is how you determine dosing (increases/decreases). You'll get there. :)

Have a great day at work

Morning Angel and beans (I suppose that a double meaning for you Cherish :cat:), time and practice and questions will bring understanding to TR. As Cass said its a huge learning curve. Peace Ed

"Reprogramming" your brain from Vetsulin to Lantus is the biggest challenge.

Lantus is slow acting and long lasting and has a depot ( which is the gift that keeps on giving). So onset and duration are way different from Vetsulin. with Lantus you are not shooting the PS number, you are shooting at a number 2 or 3 hours down the road when onset typically occurs. Any dose adjustment, up or down, does not immediately effect the numbers because the depot will recalibrate first. It's a whole new dance.

Nice sunny start for Angel today. If you don't see green today I'd probably increase her to 1.25u tomorrow morning. My reasoning is it's the 6th cycle from the 91 and bounces can take 6 cycles to clear. Green nadirs are the goal but lets see how she does. Below is a bit about bouncing found in the The Basics New To the Group Sticky

Bouncing - Bouncing is simply a natural reaction to what the cat's system perceives as a BG value that is "too low". "Too low" is relative. If a cat is used to BGs in the 200's, 300's, or higher for a long time, then even a BG that drops to 150 can trigger a "bounce". Bouncing can also be triggered if the blood glucose drops too low and/or too fast. The pancreas, then the liver, release glucogon, glycogen and counter-regulatory hormones. The end result is a dumping of "sugar" into the bloodstream to save the cat from going hypoglycemic from a perceived low. The action is often referred to as "liver panic" or "panicky liver". *Usually*, a bounce will clear kitty's system within 3 days (6 cycles).

Also, what is her feeding schedule? Are you only feeding at preshot or does she get her food spread out? Smaller more frequent meals are easier on their pancreas and does help flatten out the curves. You just don't want her to eat 2 hours before preshot so the BG is uninfluenced by food. Many use auto-feeders if you aren't home. Examples are feeding at preshot, +3, +6 or when Doodles was on Lantus I fed him preshot & +4. ECID...something else to think about :)

I know @Wendy&Neko mentioned the "Depot" the other day. Understand the depot and why we don't change doses frequently really helped me understand Lantus/ Levemir. You can find it in the What is the Insulin Depot sticky.

Just wanted to give you a few references. Taking the time to read the stickies will help your learning curve and lesson your frustration....it did for me anyway.

I WANT her to be low and regulated but my heart beats so fast whenever she even has a blue preshot and I worry so much about shooting the full amount. I know I'm just in my bed because for 7 months of doing this she hasn't had any super bad hypo incident so idk why I'm so worried. Uhg. Sometimes I even give her medium carb during the day if she gets user 100 early on in her cycle because I fear she will go too low and die.

Oh wow. So I don't have to worry so much shooting lower numbers.

Thanks so much! Will research all your links after work tonight. Angel gets her 3oz meals at 5am and 5pm and she gets 1.5oz snacks at at both ends of the day anywhere between +4-6 depending on a lot of things. Never any food 2 hours prior to testing. :)

You think I should increase tomorrow morning even though she's been under 200 the last few days?

BTW, I won't be on the board tomorrow but sure a few others will be and can certainly help.
Thanks so much! :) flat as can be all day today. We will keep a close eye on her this evening. I'm hoping she does get down to green. It would be great to keep her at 1U. Can't believe when we first started 7 months ago on Vetsulin she was at 4 units with us almost giving her 5 (per vet) until we found this place. We didn't eve start testing until the end of the 2nd month. Scary to think how many bullets we probably dodged with shooting blind
