Hey everyone! I am new to having a cat with diabetes and have a second non diabetic cat as well.
My question and concern is that I have been feeding them in separate rooms and separate food which isn't abnormal for them when they get a treat for getting wet food. I used to have dry out all day but that had to change. My non diabetic cat barely is eating and then she throws up. Is this normal in the beginning from stress for sister and new changes. I am happy that the diabetic one is eating well and the injections are going easy but I was hoping someone out there could have advice or a tip in this situation.

What are you feeding? You don't need to feed the prescription diabetic food. There are a number of low carb regular wet foods on the market.

Curious why you have to feed them separately? My cats all eat together.

Maybe the food you are giving doesn't agree with her.

What are you feeding?

The diabetic cat is eating great. It's the non diabetic one that is having troubles and she is eating her normal food. I am stressed enough about making sure snowball my newly diabetic cat eats and gets her insulin correctly. I didn't know if anyone else had the same situation where the other cat was too stressed to eat etc I just want both happy and healthy

I am afraid that the diabetic one will try to take the non diabetic food and I am worried the non diabetic cats change of diet will upset her stomach.

What is she stressed about? Are you sure she just doesn't have a hairball? Is she eating too fast and regurgitation? Are you only feeding twice a day or several times a day?

Ok what is the non diabetic cat eating? Why not just feed the same food to keep it easy? All my cats get fancy feast classic.

What are you feeding the non-diabetic?

Fancy Feast classic (the pate one) and Friskies pates are suitable for both.

There are very few dry foods that are acceptable. Young Again is one of them.

If you can feed in the same room and monitor, then you will have a better idea if it is stress related or if it means a trip to the vet.

By the way there are a handful of dry that is low carb. I leave out young again zero carb or Dr elsley's clean protein chicken.
