Very nice run of blues last night! Now that you know how she reacts to those treats try to save them for lower numbers. Having her spike and come down doesn't let you see if she can learn to surf. No harm done, and she's already making her way back down. You're doing a great job and switching insulins is like starting all over again.

Head on down nice and easy sweet girl.

Thank you for all of your help:bighug:

Updating your original post will not give anyone notifications. You'll need to make a new comment in this thread.

Test again at +9. Remember Levemir kitties typical nadir is between +8 and preshot/ hence +12. It's ok to give her some low carb food now. I'm around for a few more hours before taking my cat to the vet. Keep your title updated with the bg readings so others can spot you.

HI thank you what do you mean by a new comment? Start a new thread?? I thought I should not do that Thank you for getting back to me

Hi
How it works is that as you post something in your thread, that moves your conversation/thread to the top. So you might see folks write "bump" and that is to move your thread up for more eyes on the question or thing you need help with!
:bighug:

She's slowing down nicely. Might want to get a +11 this way you know if she's rising or dropping into PMPS. With Levemir, if she decides to be a later nadir kitty you'll have to get use to shooting lower numbers. By getting the +11 it gives you time to post for help if needed. I won't be here around your shot time but sure others will chime in.

New job is going well, started on Tuesday. Very tired as I was off for two months prior to the new job on sick leave. Was hoping to sleep in tomorrow, but got an appointment early afternoon, so will need to do errands in the morning.... d'oh

Hi,
I'm no expert on IAA kitties and Gussie was a Lantus kitty, but in general, the way I liked to think of it that helped me was this:
The cats body gets used to being in high numbers, it's comfy there. Then when we start adjusting the level using a hormone, i.e. Insulin, the numbers start to lower. Then the liver notices and freaks out and says danger danger, must get back to that high comfy level we're used to!! So it dumps a lot of counter hormones and that causes the trampoline bounce back to higher numbers. With time the liver get used to more normal numbers and will barely look up and say huh?Oh I recognize this..and won't dump those counter hormones and the numbers will flatten out.its a pretty simplified version but that's how I wrapped my head around the process..
Hope it makes some kind of sense...
BUT I'm going to bump you up because as mentioned I'm no expert and out of my knowledge base on this one!:bighug:
Going to also tag some more experienced folks who I've seen help
