Titan 9/6

AMPS is "normal" black, getting used to it so it doesn't scare me anymore. First day at 5 units, should be okay with testing today, enuf strips and according to USPS new supply arrives tomorrow. Now I know why there are "strip hoarders" in the group, to avoid this scenario    :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :arghh:.
All the kitties and their civvies have a good Thursday !

Hope Titan sees some reds and pinks on the new dose.:cat:

Yes I've just put another Walmart order in for test strips. Always re-order when I'm down to 100. Same with lancets. What I don't have and need to get is a back up battery for the meter! At least I can always get a battery at the 24hr grocery store worst case but its probably a good idea to have one on hand. Not sure how long they last:rolleyes:

Interesting to read Jimmys signature and spreadsheet. He and Titan must be in the same mud hole . I need to find out about R. Is that novalog R a fast acting insulin?

Novolin or Humulin R is a fast acting bolus insulin, that is in and out in typically 4 hours. Whereas the L insulins are long lasting and good at keeping low numbers down. R can be used to nudge the numbers down, giving the L insulin something better to work with. However, the use of R is an advanced technique that requires lots of monitoring. You have to know the onset, nadir and duration of the Lantus/Levemir before starting R. And use it the first few times with an experienced person around. It is just as important to know when not to use R as when to use it.

I'll put that in my quiver for later use if nessary. Titans PMPS was up which shows me a curve anyway so that is a positive :woot:. Here's to a good +4!

P.S. Thanks Wendy for your support and knowledge, it is truly appreciated :cat:

You're welcome. Everyone posting here today has walked in your shoes and knows how frustrating it is waiting for those good numbers to show up. :bighug:

One more thing about R, it's not something you'd use when you are fast tracking. Better to get to a closer Lantus dose first.

Some housekeeping, it's always good to keep the spreadsheet up to date. You are missing last night's dose and tonight's info. ;)

Wendy explained it ... but to add, it's very seductive and it packs a punch. I can see how easy it would be to get in a loop of bounces. We are both in a quest to find that right dose.

Are you around this weekend to grab more tests? That may help you see more of the picture.

Ha I feel as tho I'm back in grade school and teacher knows I've handed in an incomplete paper :nailbiting:. SS is up to date, nice 120 point drop at +4 so I know the juice is working. If new strips arrive tomorrow or sat I will get more tests in. Got some FreeStyle Lites in today and comparing them but they seem to run 50-80 points higher than the AT2 strips. Using same code on both. Saturday morn will be his next increase to 5.5u. He came running out of the bedroom ,where he and mom are reading, to get his +4 poke and treat. He's such a good cat:cat:.

That was my initial thought to get trends on the freestyle strips. We really like the AT2 strips because they require such a small amt of blood. At tymes that's all Titan will produce. Thanks for the link I'll read in the am. It's bed tyme for theses old bones.
PS love the picture of Maverick, it's so cat like.

Freestyle lite and alphatrak2 are the same manufacturer, just branded for human and pet respectively. ;) Same amount of blood required :) sleep tight.

No longer true. They used to be but now the AT meter and strips are made by Zoetis and Freestyle by Abbott. In the same plant, but who knows when someone will get on a manufacturing efficiency kick and change things.

The Relion Confirm/Micro at Walmart or the Arkray Glucocard 01 sold by ADW are made by the same manufacturer and also have a similar small size blood drop requirement. ADW are pretty quick on delivery.

Lol. Thank god for extra sets eyes though...my dates often get off and one date screw up all that follows. The next thing I know I'm a month off.

Didn't realize you were low on strips...thank god for Amazon!! They've saved me a few times...not realizing I flew through 100 strips! Ugh.

Love when they come without having to call! Good job...who said cats can't be trained?? :cat:

Good luck on the dosecrease. :bighug:
