Still not wanting to eat much. Got out the sheba this am, she ate it. For now. Might have to concider the appy stimulant. Just wanted to wait as long as possible. She really is the sweetest cat. I love her sooo much.

I tend to agree with Nan&Amber. When a cat won't eat, the priority is to get her to eat, no matter what, so it might be best to feed her whatever she will eat.
I'm not sure why you're holding back on the appy stimulant meds. Has she had some bad side effects from them?
 
No, she just hasn't had this many anti eating episodes, and we are shoving so much down her now just wanted to wait until felt like she really could benefit. In past she has a couple meals she doesn't want any of the lc we have but by afternoon she's eating like a horse. And at night she would eat. This last week is the first time we've had issues all day with appetite.

You have a point just worried about the heaviness of mc on her IBD and pancreatitis. So stay below 14% for mc?

Hmm, that's a good question. I don't actually know what kind of impact carbs have on IBD, so that might be a consideration, especially if you've observed bad effects. Same for pancreatitis-- the reading I've done hasn't really identified strong diet-related (carbs or otherwise) triggers applicable to all cats, but if you've noticed a connection between flares and carbs for Phoebe, that would definitely be a concern.
 
I can sure relate to the no eating thing right now. With the IBD it make it tricky to what will ultimately make her worse . Have you tried sprinkling some flavor enticers on top like FlortiFlora?
 
There are lots of foods in the single digit carbs. I agree that eating is the #1 goal, even if it requires more insulin to counteract. With Jack I anecdotally noticed that certain foods affected him more then the carb count. One food in particular that should have been really good seemed to give him 2 p'titis episodes. He has been fine since ditching that food.

Are you giving Phoebe any probiotics? That and novel protein can help IBD. I used to keep a,lot of what protein I gave and resulting appy/lb/pukus to see if I could find a pattern. It helped me eliminate proteins that made my IBD guy feel worse. I don't think I would worry so much about carbs as type of meat or other additives. Some kitties can't do wheat/gluten or gums. Tons of vines for Phoebe to feel better. :bighug:

When she'll eat it. Most the time she's been more picky about her food and won't eat it with anything but fortiflora. Will have to start giving her Mc but find one that doesnt cause a flare up. But that she will eat with stuff hidden in it.
She won't eat rabbit, does like a duck freeze dried treat, but can't afford to start the raw diet. We are barely scraping by as it is. Praying no emergencies pop up. Antijinx

Yes that's about the only way she will eat the fancy feasts classics. She did chow down some sheba chicken perfect portions today. Might switch to that for awhile.

If any local stores carry them, you could try a small amount of prepared raw food to see if Phoebe likes them. If she does you can look more into the homemade raw diets. A local store near me had little samples of raw food, about an ounce each and gave me various ones to try with Jack.

YES! I have an IBD cat, Bamboo. After trying everything else, I settled in on rice and chicken breast (skinless), and she has not had an abnormal stool for 3 months now. The cost of home cooking it is negligible compared to the commercial prepared food. I do need to put some calcium and other supplements into her food though.
