Is anyone able to help please? My information technology skills are basically non-existant.

I tried to change the format of the SS Date Column but it has gone crazy. I do have a copy SS on Google Drive which is not corrupted.

I think the easiest thing to do if you have a non-corrupt copy on Google Drive is to open that one, click on the top left on "File" and then "Make a copy" of the non-corrupt spreadsheet

Change the link in your signature to the new link from the copy

HI @Jancol
Sorry I didn't realise you were another Aussie....I try and keep an eye out for new ones on the board. I just saw the 2 tags asking me to pop in and see if I could help......haven't been online for a couple of days.
Anyway welcome!:)
Cher is beautiful....I love Burmese cats.
Cher has a few issues going on and I see you are having issues with the food being HC with the FD and trying to juggle IBD.
I used to give Sheba kangaroo meat every day and she loved it. I bought it at WW and used to get the kangaroo steak.
You could try her with that and see if she will eat it. Just cut it up into bite sizes pieces.
I originally started with the raw diet because she had ongoing unexplained diarrhoea. After starting the raw diet she didn't have it again...
If you give the kangaroo meat just be aware that it has virtually no carbs so it will make a big difference to Chers BSL and you will need to monitor her BSLs closely to start with.
It is a really good food for FDs but it is very low fat so you will need to feed other meats as well, long term. If you try the kangaroo and find she likes it and it is OK with her IBD I will try and help you work out a raw food diet that is suitable for her and that she can tolerate, if you would like to do that.
I don't agree with your vet that you have to stay on the ZD...there are other alternatives.
Here is the kangaroo meat I used.

You are a lifesaver in more ways than one. It is good now. Many thanks!

I've only just seen this - I didn't know you were in a fix re: the low numbers. How are you now? All good?

Re: the SS numbers:
  • In the date column, I click on the entry I want to change to select it (the cell is then outlined in blue on my PC).
  • Under the name of your spreadsheet, choose Format, Number: at the bottom of that pop-up box, I have the date in the day - month - year format, but I'm not sure if I put that in or if that's how the World template is formatted. If you don't see that option, then
  • Choose Format, Number, More formats, and then choose either More date and time formats or Custom number format and choose what format you want to use.

I don't know if this will help you or if it's more confusing! I can set up a step-by-step document with pictures that will make it more straightforward. I know that pictures always make it easier for me. Just let me know, Jan.

Re: the Australian food on Dr Pierson's chart: I've created a copy of the food on Dr Pierson's chart and highlighted the ones we can get here in Oz, if that will help at all. Just let me know and I'll post it up for you. I'm using Fancy Feast, Wellness, ProPlan, and would dearly love to use ZiwiPeak if Girlie's tummy would cooperate. Oh yes - and Holistic Select. She won't have a bar of the Cats in the Kitchen. Just let me know and I'll pop that up for you, although I know you have to be so careful with your cat re: the IBD issues, so those foods might not be an option for you. The more experienced people here who are familiar with IBD can guide you on that.

Hi Bron

I appreciate you popping in to see if you can help! I am in need of help and now that I have joined this site, I feel as though I am in a good place with very knowledgeable people.

We would like to try to ditch the ZD but we are pretty nervous in case it doesn't work for Cher. However, if it does work for her, it would be so good.

I will be contacting the vet's registrar on Wednesday as today and tomorrow Cher is having a curve done on both days. I will speak with her (the Reg) regarding the diet to see what her recommendation is. I don't know if she has the same view as Cher's vet but I guess we will find out.
We also have to consider Cher's kidney function as she has had a bypass so whether or not this will have any impact regarding diet, I don't know.

I would like Cher to get off the ZD primarily because of the high carbs.

Thank you ....

I actually did all of the above however I did not click on the entry in the date column but instead clicked on the date column "A". I think it went crazy because the cells below had been merged.

Fortunately Chris & China were able to advise how to rectify the problem.

I will have another go tomorrow at changing the date format but this time I will practice first on the copy.

Thanks again.

What did Cher have the bypass for? I have not heard of that before with a cat.
Does she have normal kidney function or do you know if she has any kidney failure.

Sheba had the beginnings of kidney failure and thrived on the raw diet....modified to take the kidney failure into account. I'm sure it would not hurt to try Cher with some kangaroo meat.... but it is your decision of course. You don't have to change her over to it all at once or anything like that......just try giving her a few pieces to see if it affects her IBD at all and if she will eat it. You can freeze the rest of the kangaroo already cut up in small lots to use when needed.
I know how difficult having an IBD cat can be, I had a lovely boy who had it and it was difficult...I just wish I knew then what I know now about food.

She had stones in her right uretera so they did a bypass from the right kidney to the bladder - subcutaneous ureteral bypass (SUB). Normally the stones would be surgically removed from the tiny uretera, which I am told is about the size of a strand of hair, but because she had three of them (stones), they decided it would be better to do the bypass. The stones are still in the tube.

For the first month, she had to have the port (in the middle of the bypass) flushed each two weeks to make sure it wasn't blocking but now she has it flushed every three months and has her urine tests done at the same time where they draw urine from the port also. She has to have anaesthetic to have this done.

Her kidney function is not 100% but it is ok. She has inflammation in her kidney as a result of the SUB being a foreign body. I don't think her kidney function will improve but so long as it remains the same, I will be happy. Fingers crossed.

I could try her with the kangaroo steaks straight away but for the sake of waiting two days, I feel I should discuss the change with the registrar out of courtesy to her.

We have given kangaroo meat (not the steak though) to a previous boy we had the pleasure of owning. He loved it along with green prawns as a treat.

I value your advice and expertese

Wow - you've really had a time of it medically with Cher! She is very lucky to have you. She's very beautiful in that extraordinary Burmese way...(ok, I'm partial, I know...)

It is good now. Many thanks!

You're very welcome, but don't forget to go into the new spreadsheet and change the "Permissions".....right now we can't see it

Go to the top right corner of the spreadsheet and click on "Share"....a new box will pop up. On the bottom right side of that box will be "Advanced".....click there and then choose "Anyone with the link"

Click Save and you're done!

I thought it was just me as I couldn't access the SS either.

Again, thank you for your help. As you can see, I am very high maintenance!

You're not high maintenance!

Interesting numbers, especially given the HC food she needs to be on right now. She's very democratic about giving all colours a go -

I'll be curious to hear what the more experienced people say...very interesting!

That is very interesting about the SUB. I didn't know they did bypasses like that on cats.
What a lucky kitty to have you as her bean:cat:

If you do eventually decide to go down the raw food path, adjustments can be made to make it 'kidney friendly'.
Don't be surprised if the vet says they want you to stay on the prescription diet. Vets are not given much education about feline diets and what little they are given, is given by the catfood manufacturing companies, so they are biased that way.
Remember Cher is your cat.
One of the reasons I love homemade raw diets is that I know exactly what is going into my cat's tummy....and it looks like real food.

By the way, I would definitely not call you high maintenance!!
And even if you were, that is why we are here........to help everyone who has an FD kitty.
Keep asking lots of questions.....knowledge is power.:)
