Is 10 microgram per kilo dose once daily the same as 0.5ML once daily?
Thanks Mary Ann. My vet is out because he had surgery and Chris at the RVC had recommended the 10 microgram per kilo dose once daily and I just wanted to make sure that the Carbergoline was written for the correct amount. I called the pharmacy and its based on Beenie's weight and then the metric system so you mind as well be speaking to me in another language. Beenie last weighed a smidge over 10 lbs when we were there last week.

Thank you Paul!!! I re-read what you wrote and its still confuses me but the bottom line is 0.5ml is correct and that's all I needed to hear! Thank you!Bronx (16 lbs) started at the smaller dose recommended by RVC 5mg/kg which equaled .4ml of Cabergoline, we increase to .8ml of Cabergoline which equals 10mg/kg (kg is the weight of the cat). I believe Marvin is on .625ml and also weighs about the same as Bronx. So, if Beenie is 10lbs and following the higher dosage of 10mg/kg, I would think the Cabergoline amount should be about .5ml.
Me too! Thank goodness for Paul because Google was no helpI know that Natalie had Marvin's compounded and when you start compounding and converting between different measurements it spins my brain![]()
You're welcome. I edited my post and now it hopefully makes more sense.Thank you Paul!!! I re-read what you wrote and its still confuses me but the bottom line is 0.5ml is correct and that's all I needed to hear! Thank you!
What is the concentration of the cabergoline? Is 10 microgram per kilo dose once daily the same as 0.5ML once daily?
Oh geez, I didn't see this reply until now. Sorry. The script says 100MCG/ML SUSWhat is the concentration of the cabergoline?
That is needed to convert ml to micrograms
Thanks Nat sorry didn't see this post either. Never got an alert. Anyhoo hope you're feeling better.Hi guys, sorry been sick for the last 4 days. Your vet or Pharmacist should be able to calculate the right amount regardless of it being metric or not. A lab assistance probably wouldn't be able to.
Since I am in Canada, it was easier since we use metric system.
The script says 100MCG/ML SUS
1/2 ml of that would be 50 micrograms. At a dose of 10 micrograms/kg the cat would have to weight 5 kg (11 pounds). A 5 kg cat is on the normal size.Is 10 microgram per kilo dose once daily the same as 0.5ML once daily?
