Does it seem strange to anyone but me, that in the last few days, sometimes after we give Little Emily her shot, her numbers rise???? I was on the Lantus Forum and they were talking about "bouncing" (I think that might have been the case when she went to 61 one evening), but for example, last night her pre-shot evening test was at 221 and 4 hours later she was at 382??? Can someone explain? Thanks! :)

My first guess would be food-related. What is the carb content of her food? Have you fed her anything different than her usual meals and treats? Could she possibly be getting into some contraband?

No. There is absolutely no chance that she is getting into anything, and the food I am feeding her is all well below the 10% suggested carb rate. In particular, RIGHT NOW (she is picky) she is eating FF Roasted and/or Chunky Chicken and/or Turkey. Any any food that I currently have is all under the 10%, and she is completely off dry food.

How old is your insulin? If it's not food that's making her BG rise, and your insulin is good, maybe Emily just needs a slightly higher dose? You could try calling your vet to see if he has any ideas.

The insulin (Lantus) was purchased in early June. It has been refrigerated the entire time, is not cloudy, etc. I have friends that use it until the bottle is completely empty, and they don't believe "it is no good after 30 days" and it seems to continue to work well for them. So, I have been following that rule of thought because quite honestly, my bank account can't afford another $300.00 bottle right now. :) I was able to do a +6 check this afternoon and she was a 91 after being at 267 this morning. So, she seemed ok then. I will check her before her night shot, and then we will be heading out. I can check her again when we get home and see where she is at. Sigh.

I'm one of those people who use the Lantus till the bottle's empty, to, lol. It's like liquid gold, as far as I'm concerned - at least, my bank account thinks so! If Emily is dropping down to 91, it's definitely working.
