Sorry I missed yesterday's readings but they were all a flat mid 500's. We started out a little lower today and it's his last day at 3 units 2x. Tomorrow we bump to 3.5 units. I'm happy he's still active, neg keytones, eating etc.
My question is if/when we get to high doses what is the experience with Lantus vs Levemir? Is there a big problem with the Lantus stinging or do most cats tolerate it. Is Levemir a better high dose insulin. I'm trying to be ahead and proactive if we need to change I would like to be ready.
Thanks Ed

That is very important.

Some sting some do not. I had no problem with Lantus.
If down the road you run into stinging, it's an easy switch.

Did you have him tested for IAA as well as Acro?

No, we did the IGF test at my insistence , and that was b4 I new enuf to ask for it ( IAA )our vet said it was not that important  but I will insist next vet visit to get it. He may not be going back for a bit. So looking forward to getting the numbers lower, increase in insulin for the morrow 9/1 . Thanks for responding :):coffee:

Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. But to link you previous post, you first bring that up and copy the address from the top of the browser. You do that by holding down on the address on the iPad and selecting Copy when it pops up. Then start your new post of the day. You have two options for links. The first is just the straight link, and you select the chain link icon on the menu above the text box. A pop up menu show up and you paste the link you copied by holding your finger on the field until Paste show up, select Paste, and it shows up like this. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...597-6-531-pmps-523-4-410.183121/#post-2032584
The second option is to write some words you want to be the link, select them, then press the chain link icon and enter the address as before. That looks like this Titan 8/30

The Lantus sting depends on the cat. I thought Lantus didn't bother Neko, but she occasionally walked away from her Lantus shot. When I switched to Levemir, for other reasons, she purred though the shot, which she never did on Lantus. I think kitties get slightly better duration from Lev, and for a lot of kitties that means flatter cycles. I am a fan.

Good luck with the increase. If you can, it's a good habit to try to get a test in before bed every night. Cats can even go low from high preshots. We have seen cats go from a black preshot to a reduction and back up again. Since we dose on the nadir or how low a dose takes the cat, this is very important informati.
