Further to earlier queries today. Would people be able to look at spreadsheet to advice on insulin dose for tonight please. We have decided to feed Lila a light diet (some of her food mixed with scrambled egg) she certainly has a reduced appetite at present and we are trying to rest her gut too. We were thinking of injecting 0.8 as a token dose rather than no shot given that her pre shot is high and trace of ketones present. Do people think 0.8 is reasonable for tonight at least?

Yes, I think that's reasonable if you can get some food into her. It's best that she gets some insulin with ketones in evidence.

Earlier post today with some background:

"We have had Lila checked and vet says to starve till tomorrow and no insulin. Reintroduce food tomorrow am and inject again from PM. Any ideas on some food that will be gentle on her gut and not be too much for her diabetes until we start insulin again. ? She seems reasonably OK considering everything. There is a trace of ketones."

With Lila just home from the vet and showing a trace of ketones definitely getting some insulin in and feeding whatever she will eat is the best idea. Glad you are not listening to the vet. :bighug::bighug:

Thank you. She has had 0.8. Just hoping now she will eat enough in next few hours to cope with the insulin.

You can try to feed her anything she will eat. Baby food...meat with NO onions or garlic may be easier on the stomach and will provide some food. Chicken broth, again with no onion or garlic is also easy on the stomach and has some nutrients. But with the trace of letones and the higher glucose numbers it is important to give some insulin.

Yes we have some plain chicken ready. Will test in a while to see where she is heading.
