I tried the Young again zero carb and my cats would not eat it. They ate the Dr elseys clean protein but it's a little to pricey for me. Any suggestions?

Wysong Epigen maybe? It's about the same price as the YA. Better to just feed canned food. Check out Dr. Lisa's (our sponsoring vet)'s post here:

I know. I'm trying to help my mom out with her cats. I told her to feed only pate/classic friskies wet food and she tried it for a while and then gave up. I noticed one day that she was feeding them purina one and thought that was probably not all that great for the cat. So I was trying to find something that would help.

There really are no cheap low carb dry foods

The only 3 that are considered low carb are all about the same price

I noticed that there are a few grain free dry foods at walmart from crave, purina, etc. Those probably aren't actually low carb right?

Unfortunately yes, as grain-free does not mean carb-free. I think the one Lyresa mentioned is a little less cost and can be found at pet stores but make sure you get the Wysong Epigen 90, not just Epigen. It's still not ideal for a low carb dry food but it's much better than the Purina :).

I found one that stated on that package that it was 20% carbs which is rare for a company to do. I bought it as a dry "TREAT" for my other cat. Just recently I purchased the young again zero carb as a TREAT for Peanut because he's not being the little angle that was in the video. He's been somewhat fighting me at testing time and downright fighting me at injection time, to the point where I had to hold him down and sometimes stick him 6 or 7 times, I hate that. I have figured out a solution though, if he knows that he's got a treat in a box waiting in front of him, he will be so good just waiting for his treat so I've been using his freeze dried treats but I'm nearly out that's why I ordered these, I hope that they work. I should take a video, he holds his box of treats until after his shot, it's so cute... I swear he's a person.

Okay this is a bit old but I just realized after all of this time that the 4 pack of 9-lives is .37 cents per can and the Fancy Feast is .49 cents per can so for me personally with 3 cats that means that I will pay
$44.50 per month with 9-lives OR
$58.80 per month with Fancy Feast

I honesty I think the foods are too similar too pay that amount of difference, I mean I read the ingredients and Fancy Feast if a bit better but if money is tight then 9-lives is good enough. I personally feel that the 9-lives is the best financial option if you want to feed your cat a low carb canned food. It took me some time to see this because I have been going through the change of switching my cats to this food and also while not being able to find a job but knowing in my heart that I need to feed them a quality food that is affordable, I switched to this. Even the Walmart brand is the same price as Fancy Feast and it has dyes in it whether it labels it or not, it looks terrible.

I no longer feed the Primal Raw because I can't afford it but I'll give Peanut some raw chicken while I'm cooking because he won't leave me alone if I don't lol. I also still give him wings, hearts, gizzards etc. he loves it.

I hope that this post helped in some way.

.

Question on your math. Fancy Feast is 3 Oz can vs a 5 Oz can. My single 11 lb cat if feed by the label would require 3 to 4 cans of FF daily and or 2 to 3 of the 9-lives. If I expand that to 3 cats of equel weight ( 11 Lbs is light for most cats) than I get a hell of lot more than what your saying it cost you. Even if you only feed 2 cans per cat per day the cost you listed is to low. 9 lives come out 66 bucks for a 30 day supply. FF is 88 bucks.

The Royal Cann RX dry food I feed is 30 bucks for a 4.4 lb bag To expensive to feed 3 cats but I just feed barney this (for now) and the other two get regular dry food. He loves his food and gulps it down in record time. I am working out a menu where all 3 gets healthy wet caned food 3 times a week instead of the dry at the evening feed.
