@Wendy&Neko and @Chris & China
Just got back and tested her: she's 128. I left a lot of MC food, and she ate some of that while I was gone. Meeting was cancelled - can you believe it? Sigh...

I'm glad to see her in blue, but I'm supposed to be back at work by +7. Should I just tell work I can't come in this afternoon, I wonder?

I absolutely have to be at work tomorrow to give a presentation, so I'll be gone for her +3 - +7 - and her +3 is the drop zone. Shall I see how she goes today and then decide on a plan of action for tomorrow? I have to be gone tomorrow and I don't want her to do anything during that time when I'm away. Oh, why isn't it Friday yet! :eek:

Shall I stick with the MC food or should I try to do something HC/MC mix or something else now? She dropped another 63 points from +3 to +5.

You might want to seriously consider getting an auto feeder....that way if you need to be gone and she's dropping, you can load it up with MC or HC and set it to open while you're gone

As for tomorrow, it's just too early to really say....she may bounce again by then (which would make your day a lot easier!)

70 at +5: no pm meeting for me!

I'll try to find a cheap auto feeder, but if she's really picky and not at all food motivated, so if goes to look for food and it's not there, she'll just walk away. She's a grazer not a hoover like my civvie, so there's no worry about her eating too much in one go at least, thank goodness.

I have an autofeeder if you want it Darrah. I don't use it any more and you are welcome to have it.
Not sure how I would get it to you though.
I used it because Sheba would eat everything in sight and not leave anything til later.
If you can leave food down for Girlie and she will only eat it if needed and there is not another cat who can eat it, you might not need an auto feeder.........??
I taught Sheba to eat from it by giving her all her meals in it for a time until she understood what it was for.
The feeder has a microphone in it and you can record your message for them to hear when it opens.

Oh Bron, you are so, so kind! I think an automatic feeder might put Girlie off, and I need her to eat, especially because she only eats as needed. Max (my civvie) is resigned at this point to being barred from the room and verandah unless I'm there to supervise and ensure that he doesn't go near the food. It's just the way it has to be right now.

Glad to see she's coming back up. Today's excitement was probably a little leftover 0.75 unit depot talking. Tomorrow "should" be a quieter day. But who can predict anything with cats. :p

That 70 is awfully close to a 68. Glad Girlie is coming back up for you.
Yup - that made me a little concerned, especially with the drop to green earlier even with MC food. I was probably too conservative to give her a tsp of HC food at +6, but I was hoping that I might be able, as well, to go in for work to my meeting. I cancelled that option, though, and am just attending the meeting via teleconference instead. I really hope she's okay tomorrow: I can't be home all day, and I want her to be safe. I so don't want her to go back to blacks again, though. What to do! :confused:
My vet keeps telling me, "let her drop to those really low greens - she'll just eat and be okay if you're not there", but I just can't see that happening. Sometimes she goes actively looking for food when she's low, but other times - like today - she thought lying in the sun was more attractive than eating, until I brought her food to her. Such a cat!

With you there, Wendy. I'm very glad that I left MC food for her for the two hours I was away today. Even with that, she dropped to 128 and then to 70. Where would she have gone if I'd just left LC, I wonder?
I have to tell you: FF Savoury Salmon seems to send her rocketing to greens, even with MC food mixed in. I might try another food tomorrow, I think! I need her to be safe all day without me.

Silly question: does the fact that she needed a reduction from 0.75 to 0.5 and she's now trying to lean more consistently towards blues (and greens) mean that her pancreas might be healing a bit and trying to produce some insulin on its own again, or ...? I have to go back and read more stuff, clearly... :)

@Wendy&Neko
I just thought I'd ask this before I go to bed now in Australia so I have a plan for when I wake up and have to decide how I handle her insulin and food. What would you suggest that I do tomorrow (my time) to make sure she's safe while I'm away at her typical dive times to green/low green? I have to be gone from her +2 and won't return until after +7. There's no way I can avoid going in as I have to give a presentation. I'll feel more comfortable if I have a plan ready for the day. What would you suggest?

Today, even though I left MC (12 carb) food out for her - and she ate some of it - she still dived to 70 by +6. She seems to be repeating yesterday's evening pattern tonight, so I'm assuming that she might follow the same pattern tomorrow. I can blow everything for safety's sake by giving her HC for breakfast and leaving HC, HC/MC mix, or something else. I just really don't want to take any chances. Tomorrow is going to be another lovely day, and if she has to choose between lying in the sun on the verandah and going in for food, she'll choose the sun (as she did today). Thanks so much, Wendy! :bighug::confused::eek::nailbiting:
It could also be her body getting more used to the good numbers.
Thanks! That's good news...finally, after all of these weeks of dancing in the dark... :-)

You might not have read this in time, but I would get a +11 then AMPS, so you can see which way she's trending.

The depot of the 0.75 dose will be reduced tomorrow, which should mean not as much drama. Worst case, leave out HC or the mix. It'll only impact one cycle but hopefully keep her safe. Being high for one cycle with high carbs is much safer than being low for even an hour. And the carbs will work themselves out quickly.

@Wendy&Neko Thanks, Wendy. She's 28.2/507 at +11. I'd lay bets that she'll drop down significantly Post her shot and after I leave. I'll play it safe, then, and leave out HC food. Better that, then, I assume than reducing her dose for the morning?
