What human monitor do you use?? I've been using the alphatrak.. but at over a dollar a strip.. it's getting a bit pricey.. also I need to test more, because his numbers dont seem to be improving much. I've always done free feeding and have increased the wet food that I put out for my 3 cats, but have still kept a bowl of lowish carb dry out for nibbling... I've recently gotten dr. elsey's clean protein which is only 5%carbs.. hoping that helps, but currently it's mixed with 12% carb evo.
My kitty Loki has continued to improve in appearance, he's gained some weight back and doesn't have flaky fur, he's grooming himself and the younger cats again.. still drinking and peeing plenty - but his pee does seem less sticky in the litter box... I'm about to buy another 5 pack of test strips and thought maybe this is a good time to start the human meter!

Most on the board get the Relion micro or confirm meter because the strips are inexpensive and sample size needed is small.

I use the Contour Next meter because I got one free at my pharmacy. The strips aren't overly pricey compared to some but still $75 can funds for 100. It only require .06 of blood so that's great. It's easy to use too. I've heard the Wal-Mart brand monitor -relion? Is the most affordable.
