PMPS = 227
+2 = 303
+3 = 291

AMPS = 401

So i was unhappy about the mostly flat yellow with a few pinks thrown in here and there for added color, but this is ridiculous. Why is it that I would have felt at least a little better with a 390 something. :blackeye:
There was another pile of diarrhea (now I word i know how to spell also - lol) this morning. I found a pile after he ate the organix chicken pate yesterday at +3. So I'm guessing it didn't agree with him and that might also be the cause of higher numbers. I just don't know anymore. It's only been a couple of days since Gizmo saw decent numbers, but it feels like forever.

You may want to start thinking about adding R to your toolbox.
I can ask the vet about it, but I don't know if I'll be able to get it or not. I would be very nervous adding another insulin to the mix without knowing what high dose condition he might have. Plus, I'm not going to be able to monitor as much once I return to work. I was really hoping Gizmo would be doing better by this time. :banghead:

It is available OTC at any Walmart pharmacy for about $25/vial. But if you won't be home to monitor, better staying away from it.

Poor Gizmo. Have you tracked what you're feeding prior to the diarrhea? Maybe a food allergy?

Yep, we just added organix chicken pate. It was the only new food added recently. Well besides switching from friskies ocean whitefish and tuna to Friskies mixed grill (turkey and chicken). But he likes the mixed grill and seemed to do ok on it. I didn't mix slowly with it though because it was just a different Friskies flavor ... maybe that's the problem. I don't think it is chicken ... he has been eating chicken pure bites for a month or so now.

He didn't eat hardly any of his +3 snack. Came to the kitchen waiting for food, ran to his feeder when it turned, and then ate very little. He ate fine at amps so who knows.

Sorry Gizmo is not feeling well. I hope his tummy settles down quickly.
Sorry you are dealing with frustrations. :bighug: I guess that's what comes with being such a caring bean! :bighug:

My Gizmo had the most G-d awful diarrhea when I switched him to Fowl Ball. It was grey and smelled like something died AND he managed to do it smack dab under the bed - dead center :banghead:. It also shot his numbers into the reds. I wouldn't give up just yet. It may take a bit for everything to settle into the new food. Do you have SEB or MMR? May try it and see if it will calm his tummy and bowels.

I know the feeling about 401 vs. 390 - it shows up on the SS and it just sits there BLARING at you - lol. Just like my Gizmo's yellow (at least I can blame hubby :p). Nice drop at the +2 - maybe he will continue the drop and settle down to blues this afternoon.

I hope you can get the tests done soon. I wish you could find a vet that would work with you. It makes it so much better to not have that fight on top of everything else.

I already gave up. :facepalm: I didn't even try the new food at +3 today. Just figured I would go back to petco and try again. I really wish it wasn't 30 minutes away. :( I noticed the new food doesn't have any smell (none whatsoever) ... wondering if that's why Gizmo won't eat it. Or maybe he's avoiding it because he doesn't feel well, who knows ... not me that's for sure. As far as SEB or MMR... I've never used either. I might have to look into finding the MMR (seems to work better from what I've read on the forums). Gizmo has never had ANY problems before his diabetes in Feb. He didn't even have an account at our vet until then because the local shelter fixed him for much cheaper because I was taking in a stray (they fixed her also). Gizmo spent the first 11.5 years of his life never setting paw inside the vet's office. I think it has now caught up with us. :facepalm:

. Me too. We plan to keep pestering until someone listens. I'm waiting for hyperT results and then plan to go from there. Speaking of which ... they have 30 minutes until I call. :mad: Either treat for hyperT to see if that helps (if he has it) or really start pushing for the high dose testing.

So after an hour of calling the vet (busy signal the entire hour - my guess is they take phone off during lunch), I get told their fax machine is not working properly. They can send faxes, but aren't receiving them. :banghead: So no test results. She is going to call and see if she can get them. Why is everything so difficult? And why wouldn't they follow up on the results before I called knowing their equipment wasn't working. :mad:

I wonder if your vet has heard of email instead of faxes. :banghead::banghead: I had my vet clinic staff trained to forward the email results on to me when they got them.

I would increase tomorrow if you don't see blue or better tonight.

Bummer on the food reaction. Have you tried pumpkin or babyfood squash to settle his tummy.

So the headache continues, but I don't think Gizmo has hyperT. The receptionist called with the results. His T4 is 3.5 and his fT4 is 29. She said both are in the normal range. I asked for the ranges and guess what ... she doesn't have them.:eek: No big surprise there. I asked for her to call me when their fax machine is working and they get the actual results because I want the paperwork. So I looked on IDEXX website and they said if a cat is in the gray zone on the T4 and in the normal zone on fT4, hyperT is unlikely. That's all I have to go with for now. We have a call in to Gizmo's regular vet to discuss. Praying for answers as I am beyond frustrated with this entire situation. Oh and she reminded me about needed his ursine sample. I just said he is being difficult and I haven't gotten one yet. I won't step foot inside there again besides to get my paperwork.

They told me they aren't computerized when I requested to email his numbers to them. I didn't believe them, but after going there they are telling the truth. They don't even use computers for billing. It's ridiculous.
I put pumpkin in with his breakfast (1 tsp), should I be giving him some more until his tummy settles down?

Gizmo is doing better. :rolleyes: Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and well wishes.
He wanted food at +9, so I set out the organix. He turned his nose up and I said to bad, you don't need food right now, so you aren't getting anything else. He ate a few bites and left. Then he went back at +10 and finished the entire bowl. I was a bit worried since it was 2 hours before PMPS, but he ate quickly. Then ...

PMPS = 127 :eek: (retested 163)

He very willingly ate all of his food (old food - didn't want to take a chance of him not eating)! Hoping he surfs tonight. :D

You mentioned the Organix not having a smell? You might get some of this to sprinkle on top. It smells like beef bullion to me. I sprinkle about 1/16 teaspoon on when I Gizmo wasn't eating well. A packet lasted me 2-3 days.

You may be able to find it at Petco/Petsmart but you can order from Chewy or Amazon.
I might need to try this. I'm going to continue to see if he will just eat it. Maybe try a few different kinds first if he doesn't eat it. I just don't want him to get "addicted" to adding toppings to his food if I don't have to. I just order a few cans of tiki cat. So we shall see if he likes that.

What is the normal fT4 range for the lab used?

I don't know. I'm assuming that they use IDEXX, but not even sure about that (they used IDEXX for his other bloodwork). I asked her what the normal range was, but she couldn't tell me. All she knew was that both numbers were in the normal range. I looked online and couldnt find a normal range for fT4 for IDEXX labs (but as i said I don't even know what lab they sent to).:banghead:

Sending you lots of hugs!! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
I'm so sorry to hear Gizmo's not doing well. That day when Girlie ended up in ER twice because of poo issues (the stench!) and then straining and vomiting every 30 minutes was a nightmare. I now think it was food related: too much Ziwipeak too quickly. So maybe it's the food for Gizmo, too?
Whatever the cause, I hope things improve. Boy, I so hope you can find a better vet: that's making it so much harder for you.
Take good care! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks. I think it is the food, but not sure if he just needs more time to get used to it. That vet was just for a second opinion because our normal vet didn't want to do more testing. We are going to try to work with Gizmo's regular vet going forward ... just hoping they are willing to work with us.
