Cosmo is currently eating the Purina Veterinary Diet for Kidney Disease both wet and dry food. Since he doesn't really like it and he also has diabetes (which literally requires the opposite diet..) I've been given the okay from my vet to mix it with his preferred dry food. So anyway... I opened up a can of the Purina NF tonight to "meal prep" for him for the upcoming week and it was pink. Like PINK pink. Not the whole can, it was in patches more around the outsides but I'm not talking a hint of pink, it was a pretty clear pink which is way different from the normal tan color it usually is. I threw it out because it just didn't sit right with me but now I'm afraid I'll open another can and see the same thing which would totally suck because it's like $2 a can.

Does anyone know what that pink is? Was I right to throw it out or if that does happen to show up again would it be okay to let him eat it. TIA!

I would have thrown it out too! Who knows what it can be? I was trying Nature's (natural?) Balance and I believe it doesn't have preservatives and I had heard about people finding funky food some5imes. Perhaps some ingredient spoils? I think you did the right thing.
