? Help need to fix the dose

Hi all,

I kept the dose of 1.25 for 8 days but he was allmost flat. Starting from yesterday I increased to 1.4 but from the very first day at PMPS he was at 400 that's why I suspected a bounce. Today at +11.8 I noticed a drop of nearly 100 therefore I reduce to 1 fat . I noticed that every time at the end of the cycle , if the BG drops more than 50, there is a risk to drop very fast(from 300 at 50 for example) in the first 2-3hours.
It seems to me that the dose of 1,25 is too low but 1.4 is a little bit too high.
What should I do for keep him safe with lower BG?

Hi Andrea,

you know I do not dose advise but it seems that keeping 1.4 for tonight might have given you a lower number so you'd known better how Tilica likes that dose. Another thing is that you always have to take his 16% carbs dry food into account - what is its contribution to high numbers exactly? I don't know.. If you know the times he usually drops - feed him a little extra wet LC to slow down just prior to the drop time..

you know I do not dose advise but it seems that keeping 1.4 for tonight might have given you a lower number so you'd known better how Tilica likes that dose. Another thing is that you always have to take his 16% carbs dry food into account - what is its contribution to high numbers exactly? I don't know.. Hi Tanya, I was afraid to shoot the full dose I give him 16% carbs only when he drops, he eats with 3 -4% carbs. He is very unpredictible, it's very difficult "to set a pattern" for him.

I understand. I think we all dealt with it.
Forgive me for saying it but by changing the dose and its timing you are not helping with figuring out his pattern. I do not criticize - I only pointing out what prevents me from being helpful in a real, practical way..

I hope someone will help you but in my humble opinion you disturb the depot too often... It really helps to hold the dose for week if SLGL is used... There was something like a pattern on 1.25 dose: Aug 5th low blue, 5 cycles later another blue on Aug7th; another 5 cycles later another blue on Aug 10th.. Something like pattern. I'd choose the dose and stick with it. You increased to 1.4 and he started to come down Aug 14 and then you reduced. The depot will require another several cycles to settle down before you can evaluate the dose...

Again, I hope someone with experience in dosing will help out but is he were my cat I'd keep the 1.4 dose a bit longer. You saw him coming down this PMPS - I'd feed a little high-ish carbs meal, still below 10% carbs though, and test at+1 and +2 to see where the cycle was going and what kind of food spike he gets from the food.

Tanya, I kept the dose of 1,25 for 8 days, I changed the dose only when he was dropping for avoid the a fast drop. On 5th August I think it was the old depot of 1.5 that's why he was in blue . I increesed to1.4 due to the flat numbers of the last 3 days . If I had shot the full dose tonight he would have been at 40 after 3 hours and I should have given HC for stop the drop. This is my reason for which sometimes I reduce the dose. On the other hand I can't wait 2 hours because my schedule will not allow me. In the morning I have to go to work this is the second reason for which I chose a lower dose at PMPS. For him it is very difficult to apply the protocol strictly. I try to adapt to the situation, modifying the protocol.

I try to stick with the protocol as much as possible for Ducia. Otherwise I wouldn't know what to do at all.

More likely it was New Dose Wonkiness causing the higher numbers. I would have stuck with 1.4 units and waited for him to come down. Patience.
