Can anyone tell me if these would be enough for the only food source for my civvie. Trip is 95% dry food addict. She is eating Dr Elsey dry food now so at least it better than the OTC dry. I've been trying for 3 years to get her onto wet food but will only eat 1/4 of a 3 oz can a day.

She has been loving this VE turkey but I don't see taurine listed and don't know if it's good enough for 100% use.

TYIA for comments.

Cats need to have taurine in their diet so I would be hesitant to use a food without taurine listed exclusively. I gave Smoky food that was meant to be a supplement from time to time but he had food with taurine in it for his regular food.

It's advertised as a complete diet, so I'm sure it is

Taurine is naturally occurring in meats, especially organ meats like hearts and kidneys

Thanks, that was my thought also. After all the big cats and ferals don't have it added to there food since as you say it's natural in raw.

Your opinion please, do you think is nutritious enough and with the little bit of canned that she eats, I can do away with the dry? So far in 3 years the VE is the most and only non dry she will eat.

I bought Vital Essentials a few times. The kittens liked it. It's a complete food. I don't like the way it was packaged though. I got the one pound or half pound tubes and when I cut it, I ended up spilling blood all over. I've been feeding Primal which they love and just bought some Small Batch which also is a success. Oh to be young and eat anything in sight!

I'm using the freeze dried raw VE. So far it's the only thing my dry addict has any interest in.

I can attest to the fact, you don't have to be young to eat anything in sight. :woot:

Me too unfortunately but we aren't cats! The VE freeze dried is a complete food too and a good one.

means that it has enough natural taurine (and other nutrients) and supplementation is not required

Are these OK for FD kitties? I'd like to try one for a treat for my boy if they're low carb. I don't see any carby ingredients but just asking for verification ;)

My Lily loves the VE minnows treats. I buy the one for dogs since its the exact same thing as the cat treats, and the one packaged for dogs I can find in a bigger bag for a better price.

As far as I know they are low to no carb. It's a raw diet, freeze dried. I add warm water to rehydrate it. Tripper has been loving the turkey.

We never tried a raw diet with my moms cats. I do know they don't like the freeze dried treats though.

You can add water so it becomes wet food. One plus is you can experiment as to the texture. Since Tripper is a dry food junkie I can mix it to semi moist consistency.
