I've been following your transition to Levemir. What an amazing difference!!! :woot::woot:

Beenie's spreadsheet the last 2 days doesn't even look close to the Prozinc readings from before!! Fingers crossed for continued good numbers!! :bighug::bighug:

It is amazing. Hopefully other high-dose folks using Prozinc with disappointing results will now consider the switch.

I know I'm so happy and hope this trend continues. I'm taken back by the response. I was a nervous wreck yesterday because I wasn't used to those numbers. Today is looking like a carbon copy. So excited:)

the +2 will indicate if you can rest a bit...
This may or may not be true with Beenie. With Neko, as long as she was on her way up to preshot, I usually didn't test again until onset. The +2 rule is a good one for Lantus, and some Lev kitties, although it didn't even work for Neko on Lantus. It's also early days yet on Lev, probably a little too early to nail down onset and nadir. Having said that, I like the trend so far.

I should still keep testing relatively frequently during the first 6 cycles, correct? I don't want Beenie throwing me a curve ball

With my two FD kitties I found that I got very little response with Levemir until at least +4. Even with that sometimes I saw a higher number at +4 than at preshot, then a much lower number at +7 or +8 in the same cycle. Sometimes my nadir was at the next prehot time. In many cases Levemir has a later onset and a later nadir than Lantus. The best way to see how Beenie is going to work the Levemir is to do as many tests as you can the first while until you get his pattern figured out...not that it will always stay the same.:rolleyes:

I will keep at it for sure, thanks! Going to sneak out for pizza tonight with DH around +1 thru +2 time but onto data collecting after :bookworm:

I do the same thing. Now that I "know" ( for the most part) how Maxie responds to Levemir, I plan my outings for the first 3-4 hours after her shot. Love that you are going to "sneak" out for pizza. Enjoy!!

Yeah, one of the best things about Lev...I can shoot & go to work knowing the nadir won't happen until I am back home.

My Maxie likes to mix things up. Sometimes she will nadir at +7 or +8 and other times she will hold off until preshot time. Another one of the ECID examples.

Neko liked to mix up her nadir too on Lev. I spotted it anywhere from +5 to +15, though most often +9 to +12. And if she was going low, the nadir was usually earlier (around +7) - which is not uncommon for late nadir cats.

How is Beenie acting/feeling? Notice any difference on Lev and in these numbers?

Not really any difference. Yesterday a little bit but not today. She laid around all day. She wasn't in to being tested today but treats always work. Usually she just comes to me for testing but she kept walking away. Alot of testing yesterday so I understand
Hoping to see more of her 'ol self.

@Wendy&Neko I realize the switch was from Prozin to Lev...but is there a diff between Lantus and Levemir beside possible high dose sting? Is there a cost diff? Better acting for higher doses?

There is a small price difference. I have heard Lev is cheaper in some places, here it cost me $20 more for a 5 pack of cartridges. The main difference in action is that it seems to have better duration, so for many cats, you'll see flatter cycles. Flatter cycles means a bit more predictability, which for me meant more sleep. :) High dose kitties do seem to do better on it. I didn't think Neko was bothered by Lantus sting, but she used to occasionally walk away from her Lantus shot. She purred through the Lev shot, so it must have bothered her some.
