OT. I’m not sure there are many people who post on the board now who will remember me. It is over 7 months since Sheba died and I still miss her very much and the conversations we used to have, but she will always have a special place in my heart. Our home felt very empty after Sheba and Jess died.

I now have a new kitty…..I have had him for some time now. His name is Harry and he will be a year old next month. He is another Australian Mist….a gold spotted boy, the colour of a golden Labrador and has old gold coloured spots on his body. The spots are not very noticeable yet but will darken as he matures.
He is a wonderful companion, full of love and mischief, very laid back and has brought a lot of love and laughter back into our home. Everyone adores him and he loves it when the grandkids come home from school and play with him.

Clover, my daughter’s cat, much the same age, spends quite a bit of time here and she and Harry are great mates. It is lovely to have the sound of baby elephants racing through the house again. When Clover isn’t here, Harry spends much of the day with me. He has a wonderful sense of humour and loves to play hide and seek…….I hide and he finds me.

I am feeding Harry a frankenprey diet which he loves. He eats chicken wings and drumsticks (bones included) as well as beef, lamb, pork, turkey, giblets, heart, liver, kidney, raw egg yokes and either sardines or salmon for omega 3. There is very little preparation as I give him chunks of meat. It is just a matter of making sure it is a balanced diet with the right portions of muscle meat, bone and organ meats. I am lucky he has a wonderful appetite.

I am including several photos.
I hope everyone and their kitties are well. I do miss the companionship of the board. I try and look in most days.
Best wishes to everyone, Bron

Harry

Oh Bron, I am so thrilled for you and your family :) And what a wonderful home Harry has found :). The photos about made my heart burst :). You and Sheba were often still awake when Elmo and I would get on the Board early in the morning back in January , with comforting words and great advice ....thank you for all of it :). Blessings over you and Harry :)

Harry and his mouse!
My favorite picture - how funny!

It is lovely to have the sound of baby elephants racing through the house again.
Very cute analogy Bron and so true. So happy Harry has brought some laughter and love back into the house. He's a handsome boy! There is only one Sheba indeed and she is smiling, happy knowing you are happy.

Extra scritches for Harry and :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: for you.

((((((Bron))))) Your post and gorgeous pictures brought a smile plus tears--I could not be happier to read your post!! Harry is absolutely beautiful, what a truly handsome boy he is and so lucky he has the best mom in the whole world!

You are absolutely right about how much joy the sound of running elephants brings, it is so true! :joyful::joyful::joyful:

Yes, Sheba will always be in your heart but I just know that she is looking down from the Rainbow Bridge and she is smiling and nodding her head with approval! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: I hope you are taking good care of yourself as well and you and the family are all in good health.

Thank you all so much for visiting and for admiring Harry. I have no doubt Sheba guided me to him as I inquired about several kitties and very nearly got another kitty but something made me keep looking. He has a loving nature and loves to be cuddled and sit on your lap.
Yes he is a bit of a scallywag but a loveable one:joyful:.
I am keeping well thank Ruth :):bighug:

What a handsome guy! I'm so happy for you. You might want to get Harry a full time playmate. My two romp around a lot and it makes it so much easier for me that they have each other. I'm interested in the exact ingredients you are feeding as mine are on Primal Raw but it's quite expensive and has more veggies than I'd like. When you get time will you PM me the specifics please? Thanks.

Your grandkids are adorable. I hope you are feeling really good! So nice to see a post from you, Bron. I so know the hole on the heart. It will never leave mine either completely. I do think Tiffany and Max sent Chai and Mocha to help.

Squallie and I remember you! I'm so glad you and Harry found each other - I have no doubt Sheba had a guiding paw in the process. Harry is gorgeous, Bron, and looks like such a love! Please don't be a stranger here, we miss you, and I'm certain all of us would love updates on Harry!:joyful::bighug::bighug::bighug:

It is sooo good to hear from so many old friends! I do hope you are all doing well.
@Woodsywife. Harry weighs 4.9 kg (almost 11lbs) and will be a year old next month. He is very muscley which is typical of Australian Mists but he also has a big appetite so I have to be careful he keeps a good weight. In her younger years Sheba put on too much weight because she also had a big appetite ...they call Aust Mists the Labradors of the cat family and it is very true having had both labs and A Mists. Yes, we do have big mice out here in Oz:eek::joyful:

@tiffmaxee. I will PM you re the food.
I would love another cat but we are downsizing into a much smaller area.......we have a big home and we are dividing our place into two homes and my daughter and family are coming to live in the other area....so Harry will have Clover here permanently hopefully within 6 months. At the moment DD brings her over and she stays for about a week each month. She is staying here at the moment.

Hi Bron. So happy to hear news from you!
Just from the pictures one can tell Harry is quite a character. I absolutely love his face :)
How wonderful to have that energy in the house.
Please post more when you can. :bighug:

Thank you all for looking in on us. It is so good to see you all.
@Woodsywife. The Aust Mist was first bred in the mid 1970s here in Oz and is a mixture of 1/4 abbysinnian, 1/4 domestic short hair and 1/2 Burmese cats and is said to have the intelligence of the abbysinnian, the stamina of the DSH and the loving laid back nature of the Burmese.

@Sienne and Gabby (GA). hi Sienne ...I remember you helped me so much when I first came on the board and Sheba was bouncing so much and you told me to try honey..... it was the best thing I could use to control the big dives.
Yes thanks Sienne, I am giving Harry supplements with the raw diet.:)

Dearest Bron
I am so glad you have shared your good news about Harry with all your friends here, he is a wonderful addition to your family and I am definitely sure Sheba guided you to each other. Stunning photos of a very handsome boy! Many blessings to you both.
Suki xx

Bron, I am just seeing this and am so delighted!! Harry is beyond adorable and I think Sheba did an excellent job picking him for you! :bighug::)

Sienne beat me to the punch - I was concerned about the lack of Taurine in the diet you are feeding, so I'm glad to see you are giving it as a supplement. I am considering switching my two babies to raw and Marje is helping me learn about it.

It is lovely to have the sound of baby elephants racing through the house again.
I know exactly what you mean! Even at 10 weeks of age and not quite 4 lbs each, Boris and Natasha shook the house when they chased each other about. Now that they are 6 lbs, it's even louder, but it's music to my ears! :woot: How lovely that Harry will have Clover to play with more often, and I'm sure you will be happy to have the whole family together. Please do keep us updated on all of you. We miss you!

You are so remembered here! So very glad to hear there is laughter and joy in your home again with a fur baby and he is just beautiful!

Love the "baby elephants" !!! I only get to hear that when Bubba does a mad poop dash out of the box. LOL

Much love to you and yours with adorable Harry! Thanks for sharing all the wonderful photos. And thanks for continuing to help out on the boards with peeps down under. :bighug:

such great pictures! I love the bucket. He looks like a real character and he looks S-o-o-o very content.
And then how wonderful to have your daughter and family right there with you.

My two aren't so elephant like , more like a tornado dashing up and down and all around.
a couple of afternoons ago, they were stalking a floor pillow, I got up and tho't they had cornered a spider .... but it was a varmint....
and it ran to a corner pretty fast. I fell backwards on the coffee table and only Phantom ran after it.
It looked like a gerbil. Weird...
So the cats and I stalked it all over the living room, me pulling furniture out.
It wasn't a rat but it wasn't a mouse either.
It turned out to be a vole.
My dh cornered it and had it in a basket when it ran straight toward him... and he jumped upward and landed on it.
The end. Voles are very fragile.
I've known others who have vole problems but this was the first one we've seen on our property.

Blessings and a very long healthy life for Harry.
:bighug::bighug:

Thanks Suki! As you know I have been going to post for a while but something always gets in the road of it.:rolleyes:

@Tricia Cinco(GA) & Harvey. There is a lot of taurine in chicken hearts and because I don't mince (grind) up the meat but leave it whole, the taurine is not lost like it is with ground meat. But I know a bit is lost with freezing so I always use taurine just to be on the safe side.:)
I'm a big fan of a raw diet. I gave it to Sheba for the last few years and as soon as I got Harry I transitioned him to a raw diet. If you can get them to eat the meat off the bone, it is so much better for their teeth..Harry eats the bones, no trouble.
I think in the first photo of Harry, you can see his abbysinnian heritage, don't you?
How are Boris and Natasha going? You must post some photos of them......would love to see how they are growing.

@Bobbie And Bubba. So good to hear from you. Yes, Harry has brought a lot of love back into our home....he is a sweetheart.
I am happy to see Bubba is home again with you after the dental.

@rhiannon and shadow (GA)
Yes Harry is very content. He is the most laid back cat I have ever come across. Everyone who comes here comments on how placid he is.........they don't see him racing through the house with Clover though!:joyful:
I often wonder how you are. Would love to see some photos of your two babies!
I've never heard of a vole before....I had to look it up on Dr Google.

Oh how absolutely gorgeous he is, Bron! I love the picture of him at the end: Girlie likes to be held that way as well; I call it her "sack of potatoes" hold. :)

I've never heard of an Australian Mist, but I can see the loving side of the Burmese in your descriptions of him and the photos. I'm so happy to hear that you've got him in your life. I'm sure Sheba helped you out there...

Wishing you and yours lots of love and happiness and good health in the years to come.

And thanking you again, so much, for all the times you've held my hand since I started my diabetes journey with Girlie. :bighug:
:bighug::bighug::bighug:

(((Bron))))

Harry is absolutely gorgeous and I love all the photos. I'm so happy for you as I know all too well what a difficult step that is. I hope he will bring you years and years and years of love, laughter, cuddles, and all things joyful. He is one lucky little guy!!!

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you Darrah, Marje, Megan, Judy and Cherish!
@Marje and Gracie
Harry has wormed him way into all our hearts. The first thing the g'kids say when they come in the door after school is....'where is Harry?'. He is full of unconditional love for everyone.
He hides behind corners and jumps out at me multiple times during the day:eek::joyful:.......then wraps his front legs/paws around my leg and gives me a hug ...... and the minute one of us sits down he is on our lap.
I feel very lucky to have found him !
