Good luck @the vet, Glennie, I hope Callie will get better soon with the rest of the pack! Sending healing vines by bunches:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thanks, Tanya! Yeah, that Cerenia that we were hoping wouldn't be used till expiration date...well, it's been put to good use these past 6 days.

The vet visit went well. We got more Cerenia. I love that stuff, but even that didn't work today. He checked vomit and stool samples and found nothing. He thinks it's a virus that Callie is having trouble getting over due to the diabetes. He gave her an antibiotic shot of Convenia, and said if she's not better soon to bring her back for more tests. She's lost 1 1/2 lbs.

I also picked up slippery elm bark, and they're all getting some of that today. Thanks for your healing vines. Hope all is well with you and yours! :bighug:

Bobbie and Beth, I got the slippery elm bark. I tasted it, and it's not too bad. Some ate it and others had it syringed in.

How long did it take to help? I saw to continue it for at least 3 days after the diarrhea stops. So I'll do that.

Thanks so much for the suggestion! :bighug:

I hope she turns the corner on this bug soon. I do think that FD leaves them a bit more fragile than a nonFD kitty.

Glennie, I love it that you tasted it :). What a sweet kitty momma ! It actually works for human GI tracts too ! I have seen amazing kitty responses to SEB and have just used it to effect plus maybe a day . I went thru a similar situation as you when all mine picked up a virus after a house full of Thanksgiving company ....zero fun :(

When I used it with Bubba, it was within a day or so.

If you don't get results within a few days, another one of my go to things is Florastor probiotics ( I got mine from CVS but is pricey and cheaper online but I needed it ASAP). It is a an S. Boulardii probiotic. 1/2 capsule twice a day then when diarrhea stops 1/4 capsule twice a day for a few days.

That's what the vet was saying, Kris--that they're just more fragile. She is in the kitchen eating now so I'm hoping...

Yep, I thought I had better know what they were tasting. So you've tasted it too, huh?! :D BUT I have NOT tasted their cat food! LOL They're on their own with that stuff. ;)

No - I have NO desire to taste cat food!!

I was just hoping it wasn't too awful. They've had a rough couple of days, and I didn't want to make it worse. They're going to love me when I start in with it again today.

So did they pick up something from your guests? Poor you! I agree--zero fun! How long did it take to get through it?

I think I've heard something about it being possible for our pets to get flu or something if we have it. ??? I'm thinking Sammy picked up something when I had him at the vet last week. This started with him a day or after the vet visit, and then it hit Callie and went through the ranks.

Glad to hear that!

I never used it for Ducia but I read @Dr. Lisa blog that Convenia may stay up to several weeks in the system :( and I know in general that antibiotics have effect on BG. I hope it'll work well on Callie and she gains her pounds back soon.:bighug:

Hi, Tanya! I think the Convenia is working already. This morning is the first in a week that she has shown any appy. Yay! Or maybe the virus is just winding down, but I think it's the shot. ???

I don't know if that's good or bad that it stays in their system that long. Probably bad? I should read the blog. Do you know how it affects their system? BG up or down? Other affects? I was wondering this am if it could cause even more diarrhea. Since I'm lazy I'll ask you instead of looking it up. ;) Hope you don't mind...

Thank you for your thoughts and input! Have a really good day! :bighug:

Thanks, Bobbie. I really appreciate your suggestions. I'll add this to my growing arsenal of diarrhea fighters. I've got a whole list going.

On a side note, there are a few words I have trouble spelling and diarrhea is one of them. I don't think I'll ever have trouble spelling it again. I think I have it down. LOL

!!

Good morning,Glennie :). I pray this day finds your kitty babies improving by leaps and bounds ! At the time mine got sick I had 5 and it took about two weeks to work through it with all of them. Just like yours mine got sick one at a time :(. Homeopathic vet surmised that someone had brought kitty virus in on their shoes and as a precaution have them remove their shoes during future visits....my brother has 6 family members and 10 cats so the possibilities are endless :). Happy Healthy Healed Kitty Day to you and yours :) :) :)

Thanks, Beth! Callie actually just ate her brekkie (with slippery elm bark snuck in) all down with no Cerenia on board, and I was able to inject. Yay!

I know we still have diarrhea, but not sure who--maybe all. That seems to be getting better and then worse again. I'll keep Slippery Elming them, and if it isn't easing by tomorrow, I'll get some S. Boulardi as Bobbie suggested.

Two weeks, huh?! And over the holidays! It would help if they didn't get it one at a time. At least I can have my windows open. We live in a notoriously stinky town, and I think I'm adding to the fragrance.

And you had 5 cats and your brother 10! I like that. People after my own heart! With me cat and dog sitting this past weekend I was very careful to wash my hands before going into the house, but I didn't think of my shoes. I hope I didn't spread it to my friend's house! Thanks for the Happy Healthy Kitty Day wishes! :bighug:

That is funny because the same thing happened to me before Bubba had his GI issue and all the diarrhea that took him out of remission the last time!
I guess that's one way to get the spelling down, huh?! So sorry that all the diarrhea took him out of remission. That's heartbreaking! But he's back OTJ now, so yay!
