Jerry is needing a flea treatment since he seems to be wanting to itch behind the ears. He is an inside only cat but maybe some came in on the dog. Sad since he has hind leg weakness and it makes it hard for him to itch.
He is 17 years old and his diabetes is regulated and no other health issues. Would Frontline Plus be ok to give him or is there another method.

Revolution user here since 2009. I use it year round. I don't know how true this is (used it before Smokey) but my vet states it's the safest one for diabetics and the only one he would give to diabetic.

I get it from Australia as I don't need a script and I can purchase larger quantity than 6 pipettes. I catch the specials when I can. It seems in the U.S. I can only get 1 box at a time. Having 4 cats at the time I constantly had to make trip to vets to buy and it is more expensive.

Thanks! I will see if I can find the Revolution. Looked on Amazon to see if I can order it but I cant seem to find it. Is it a script in the US ?

Yes script needed in the U.S.. You probably have to get it from vet. Here is where I get it, no script needed, it takes about 3 weeks to arrive. And it's exactly the same, from the U.S. manufacturer. They are running a special right now. Get one from your vet and then order from here and you will have it in time. I use it every month year round for 3 cats so 12 pipette last me 4 months. When I open the last box, I reorder.

ETA when I got PJ she was loaded with fleas. Vet gave kitten dose and they were dead in about 28 hours. Some fleas where hardy. Then she started the monthly doses. Now that she is over 5 lbs she gets the blue box. I always put small piece of a flea collar in vacuum bag to get any that could be bought in on our clothes.

I've had good results with advantage 2. Two years ago I had two infested kittens I rescued from outside and it spread to three of my regular cats. Advantage killed all the fleas in 2 days. Make sure you vacuum a couple times a day for a week or so.

That's what I do, too! I can get a year's worth for what it would cost me for just a few months, here. Just don't expect to get it in a hurry, it takes about a month to get here.

EDIT: I also like the fact that it worms them at the same time, and I have never had a cat have any kind of reaction to it. I have had a couple of cats have a bad reaction to one of the other topicals.

thanks for the information on Advantage 2. Just did not know if it would effect a diabetic cat or not. I know cats might react different but this makes me feel better about using it since you all have had experience using it on your furbabies. I hate using chemicals but I hate seeing him try to itch too! My vet uses Vectra anyone use that one before?

Never heard of Vectra. Just looked it up. For Vectra 3D it states DO NOT USE ON CATS. It's the only vectra I found is that the one?
