Meh! I ran home from work (no lunch breaks today) just to make sure Darwin hadn't dropped too low, and it looks like he has, again. I have to go back to work and may not be able to come home and check again (although I may just say I have to). I have the option to bring him there with me (vet clinic), but that is SUPER stressful for him, and I think he'd end up being happier and safer here.

Should I just feed some FF with Karo? and check again before I head back?

ETA: I did check it twice: 42, then 40.

ETA: I fed FF with Karo. Going to stay home as long as I can, and check again.

btw, congrats on earned reduction!
Karo wears out in 15-20 min. You need him to have some higher carbs solid food in.
Can you re-test in 20 min to see if he is heading up?

Yikes! Come on back up to safety Darwin. Sending :bighug:.

Thanks!! He is acting happy as can be, but is HUNGRY!

Wow!

Do you have HC? 18-20%? Feed it and leave some out if you have to leave for work.
Definitely check the BG and post.

I do, but he doesn't like it. I just mixed some Karo in with the FF classics, and he gobbled it. Will definitely be leaving some out for him.

Can you call in pretend you don't feel good and not to go back to work?

Lol, I work at a vet clinic so I think just telling them my kitty's BG is 42 is going to get more sympathy than my own health, HAHA! I called, and they're fine if I hang home for a bit to make sure he comes back up.

I am going to stick home and retest 20 min after he ate that. I have some HC dry that I can leave out for him (I know he'll eat that over the HC canned which I have yet to find one he likes!) Thanks!

FF classic isn't carby enough for the occasion, IMHO. Karo will be gone soon and you'll have to test every 20-25 min to stay on top of the BG.
How about some gravy FF MC? WOuld he go for it?

Glad to hear you have decent employers! Envy here, but in the good way..

He won't touch the stuff, grumble. He only JUST started eating canned about two weeks ago - was a die-hard kibble addict prior that that. I have some Nature's Recipe dry that I can leave for him - he'll eat that for sure.

I am super lucky! They're great!

I see.
I don;t have any dry food on my carbs list but if that's above 10% I think it should do. If you are leaving he has to have something in and left on the plate too. You do know that dry takes a while to get out of the system, right? But if that's what he want than nothing else to do.

The next test should be more telling as to food strategy.

It's great you were able to run home and test!! I recently overslept my alarm and found Ducia later in the cycleat 33/30 - what a scare!

+25min=66, hope it'll just keep coming up!!

I believe when I calculated it was about 23% carbs or so. I know, I really hate to feed him dry. I will leave a few kibbles on top the FF gravy - he may got for that. I am going to try and have my girlfriend come check him in an hour (or see if I can leave again). Naturally, the day we have an emergency surgery on top of a booked schedule.

40 is scary enough - can't imagine if I got a reading under 40!

Thanks so much for the help!! :D

It the Karo speaking here.. I'd take a test in another 25 min.

Exactly, cats always do that!:banghead:
I am glad to hear someone else might come in to check on/to feed. I didn't realize you were at he vet's clinic and I'd hate to pull you away from other sick pets... But safety 1st for Darwin, of course.

Busy day here and it looks like the same for you. With the 40, do 0.25 u tonight if he's above 90. Otherwise, do a NS. The depot needs to be drained.
