Orijen treats

My local pet supplies plus has been out of orijen treats for over a month and Pudden is going through treat withdrawal. Every time I come home without them she pouts for 45 min.

I am looking into purchasing online, but the shipping makes the cost even more expensive than they already are. Amazon has them, but they are $9.99 and they are not prime. Pudden has put in her order for the soonest possible delivery and I don't want to make her wait:) I was looking at the Orijen original dog treats and they seem to be the same. They are prime and I would probably save more money in the long run. I was wondering if anyone buys the dog ones and if they are just as safe for diabetes as the cat version? I am probably over thinking this, but I wanted to be sure. I will most likely break them into smaller pieces and crumble it over her food so she is not getting huge pieces.

@Kris & Teasel She's someone I know off-hand that uses Orijen treats too. I know some members buy the PureBites freeze dried single ingredient treats for dogs and use for sugar kitty. Not 100% sure about Orijen :bookworm:

She loves the pure bites treats, but I have had to stop buying them since fore some reason she always chokes on them. They are too dry for her I guess.

My kitty loves his Orijen treats :cat:and our house simply couldn't run properly without them (according to Radar anyway). I always buy the dog treats and have never had a problem. I just cut them into smaller pieces. I've been buying them online at Chewy's. However, Chewy's was recently sold to PetSmart and they are not an approved distributor for Orijen products. I called the company to ask about their distributors in the US who do mail orders and received the following reply:
Thanks for speaking to me over the phone today. As we discussed, please see below for a list of alternative online retailers you can use to continue purchasing your ORIJEN cat food :)

I use all flavours of the Orejin treats. The wild boar, Plains Buffalo, Tundra, Romney Lamb....I just break them in half and put them in a bowl out for everyone to enjoy. I have never noticed for them to increase his BG numbers.

I think the dog treats would be fine broken into smaller chunks. Teasel adores his Orijen Original and Wild Boar treats. It's a Canadian company so maybe easier to access here? I know they're often found in the smaller pet food stores, never in the huge chains or supermarkets, etc.

I buy my Orijen treats from Chewy.com. Its free shipping if you spend over $49. What I do is order my cat litter there too and FF plus treats to get free shipping. I paid $6.49 for a bag of Orijen cat treats.

You might want to try a different flavor like the Wild Boar and get the dog ones.....the cheapest cat ones are $5.19 an ounce! (you only get 1.25 ounces of the cat treats)

The dogs ones are $4.45/ounce (come in 3.25 ounce bags or 2 ounce bags)

Will try that! Thanks!!

Thank you for all your responses everyone! I'm glad to hear the dog treats are OK since it would be way more bang for my buck. I will most likely order on Amazon since they have them with prime:)
